Grace Mae Flowers, 82 of St. Albans, died Friday, July 13, 2001 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Spring Hill and a Navy veteran of WWII.

She is survived by her: Husband: James P. Flowers; 1 Daughter: Patty Baker of St. Albans; 1 Son: John Flowers of Charleston; 1 Sister: Gladys Holstein of Sod; 2 Granddaughters: Melissa and Beth Lazear of St. Albans;

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Sunday, July 15, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Joe Wolfe officiating. Burial will be held in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call on Saturday, July 14, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Bobby L. Webb, 42 of Alum Creek, died Monday, July 9, 2001 at home after a short illness.
He was an employee of the Kanawha County Board of Education for 21 years at Kenna Elementary as a custodian. He was the son of the late Walter and Mable Webb and was also preceded in death by his brother, Mike Webb.

He is survived by his: Wife: Debbie Hess Webb; 1 Step-Daughter: Aleshia Boardman of Alum Creek; 1 Step-Son: Joseph Boardman of Alum Creek; 6 Brothers: Richard and wife, Helen Webb of Charleston; James F. Webb of Maryland; Foster and wife, Nancy Webb of South Charleston; Cecil Webb of Junction City, KS; Gifford Webb of Mason County; Kenneth Webb of West Hamlin; 2 Sisters: Betty Means and husband, Bobby of Sumerco; Jean Schronce and husband, Gordon of Hamlin.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Thursday, July 12, 2001 at 2 PM with Pastor Lloyd Humphreys and Pastor Dwight McClure officiating. Burial will be held in Means Webb Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 11, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Robert B. “Bob” Ballard, 86 of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at Valley Health Village in South Charleston after a short illness.

He was a retired utility foreman for Union Carbide, South Charleston with 42 years service. He was a 1934 graduate of Washington District High School, Alum Creek.

He also was a born again Christian and had attended Alum Creek Nazarene Church.

He is survived by his: 1 Daughter: Brenda Griffith of South Charleston; 1 Sister: Naomi Griffith of Victoria, TX; 3 Grandchildren: Alan Griffith of Lewisville, NC; Brenda Myers of St Albans; Robert B. Griffith of Alum Creek.

Services will be 1:00 PM on Friday, July 6, 2001 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe E. Parsons, Sr.

Bobby Gillenwater, 73, of St. Cloud, Florida, died June 18, 2001 in Florida after a long illness.

Graveside services will be Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Bear Branch Cemetery, Spurlocksville West Virginia at 2:00 PM with Minister Murrel McKinney officiating. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline “Poggy” Pauley, 79, of Sumerco, died Saturday, June 16, 2001 in Valley Health Village, South Charleston, after a long illness.

She was a member of the Summit Church of God, Sumerco, and was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Roxie Pauley.

She is survived by her: Sisters: Betty Cassle of Sumerco, W V; Doris Runyan of South Charleston, WV; 2 Nieces; 1 Nephew; 4 Great-Nieces; 1 Great Nephew.

Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Richard McCallister officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Z. Lillie Midkiff, 96, of Nitro went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at home after a long illness. She was formerly of Alum Creek.

She was a homemaker, a member of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Midkiff and son, Leo Midkiff.

Pearl Vickers Egnor, 93, of Pt. Pleasant, formerly of Olcott, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Pleasant Valley Rehabilitation Center, Pt. Pleasant after a long illness.

She was a former employee of Nutrition Services at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio, and The Masonic-Eastern Star Home in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was a member of The Gospel Lighthouse Church in Pt. Pleasant.

Pearl was the daughter of the late Ed and Bertha Smoot Vickers of Alkol and was also preceded in death by her husband Gifford ,and sons, Jackie and Bobby.

She is survived. by her: Sons: Dwaine and wife, Mona, of St Albans; Buddy of Pt Pleasant; Max and wife, Norma, of Hurricane; Daughters: Patsy Adkins and husband, Charles Edward, of Pt Pleasant; Nadine Blansett and husband, Kenneth, of Placentia, CA; Jackie Cantley and husband, Walter, of Oxford, NC; Judy Kelford and husband, Ross, of Greensboro, NC; Karen Qualls of Mission Viejo, CA; 18 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren

Thelma L. White, 80, of Yawkey died Saturday, June 9, 2001 at CAMC Memorial Division after a short illness.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Amy Baptist Church, Yawkey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer White and son, Richard White.

He was a retired pipefitter from F.M.C. at Institute and a member of Amy Baptist Church, Yawkey, where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his: Wife: Shirley; 2 Daughters: Debbie McCormick of Griffithsville; Karen Hall of Griffithsville; 3 Grandchildren: Heather Rae McCormick, Lauren Hall, Jacob Hall;2 Brothers: Randall and Mike Mullins both of St. Albans.
