Elaine Turley Akers, 76, of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 with her husband and family by her side after a long battle with cancer.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Sue Buckley and brother, Bill Turley. She was a member of Ruthdale Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by: Husband: Adair 2 Sons and daughter-in-law: R. Dale and Ellen Akers of South Charleston Marvin A. Akers of South Charleston; 1 Daughter and son-in-law: Christy G. and Micky McClure of South Charleston; 8 Sisters: Mary Lee Scott of Texas Evelyn Chapman of Huntington Judy Hamill of South Charleston; Sue McCormick of Virginia; Joan Hayes and Valena Trowbridge both of Sumerco; Helen Hernandez of St. Albans; Renee Bayne of Dunbar; 2 Brothers: Glen Turley of Parkersburg Charlie Turley of Virginia; 7 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor David Cooper officiating. Entombment will be held in Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be sent to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064.
