Diana Lavely Adkins, 73, of Alkol, WV went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2024, surrounded by the family she loved. She was born April 16, 1950, in Van, WV to the late Albert Leon McCarty and Patsy Ruth Cook McCarty.

She is preceded in death by her foster son, Joseph D. Whitman.

Diana was a longtime member of Sycamore Grove Baptist Church and a retired school bus driver for Lincoln County Schools. She valued and encouraged all the kids who rode with her, good or bad.

Diana loved the Lord, her family, and her trusty vacuum cleaner better than anything in the world. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Larry G. Adkins; her much loved children, Shannon S. Adkins (Michelle) and Sheree K. Pauley both of Alkol, WV; sister, Teresa Woodruff (Randy) of Madison; brother, Joseph H. McCarty of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Ali Jo Whitman (Paige), Cody S. Adkins, Jake S. Pauley, Samantha Gill (Derrick), Logan Thomas, Thomas Lewis, Abigail Whitman, Wyatt Whitman, Mason Whitman, and a host of extended family.

Diana surprised the entire family by having two furry friends move in: Squirt, a demon bushy tailed cat and Lavely, a friendly and frisky Australian labradoodle puppy pal.

There will be a brief ceremony at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Dotson Family Cemetery located at 2774 Bulger Road in Alkol, WV with Timothy Spratt officiating.

Cathy Christina Dolin, 62, of Julian passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at home.

Cathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Misty D. Sally.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Dolin; daughters, Nisa Ann Dolin and Tabitha Toath; sister, Tessa Burnett.

Per Cathy’s wishes, she will be cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.

Gary Lawrence Corns, 85 of South Charleston passed away on Thursday February 15, 2024, at home after a long illness.

Gary was a graduate of South Charleston High School and retired as Captain from the Charleston Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jennings Herman Corns and Sibyl Eula McCoy Corns; sister, Susan Corns and brother, General John Corns.

Gary is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janet Holstein Corns; daughter, Sharon (Jackie) Blankenship; sister, Jeanette Hill, and granddaughter, Deanna Blankenship.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday February 19, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gary B. Eller, 68, of Alum Creek, WV went to his heavenly home on February 14, 2024.

Gary was born July 7, 1955, and was a born again child of God. Gary’s life was spent as a retired US Marine and a retired surface mine heavy equipment operator. He loved serving his Lord alongside witnessing and praying for others and helping those in his community. He took pride in maintaining his yard, learning how to play the banjo, and playing chess, which he enjoyed thoroughly.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Roxanna Sue Eller, of 45 years. His 2 daughters, Christina (Joe) Lanham and Susan (Lane) Stewart, both of Alum Creek. Gary has four grandchildren. He and his only grandson, Zachery Clendenin (Kenzie) were the best of pals. His granddaughters were the twinkle in his eye. Tailey Clendenin (Cameron) of Man, Emilee and Ella Stewart also of Alum Creek. Gary also had 1 great granddaughter, Gracelynn Clendenin of Alum Creek. His brother, Jack Brown (Paula) of Slaughter Creek, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

He will always be remembered for spreading the word of God and showing his love for Him. Gary was a devoted husband, a loving Dad, and a loving Papaw. Although the void in our heart for his physical presence knows no bounds, we will take comfort in the fact that his soul is forever rejoicing in Heaven.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Rouse, father, Earl Eller and brothers, Earl and George Eller.

It was Gary’s request to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

John “Johnny” Howard Frazer, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was born on September 7, 1938, in Tioga, West Virginia to the late Fred John and Dana Loraine Sparks Frazer. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Delmas Lee Frazer and Donnie Roger Frazer.

Johnny was a 1957 graduate of Cowen High School. He served in the Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. While serving, he married his wife, Brenda Woods Frazer, in 1961. He retired as a Millwright from Union Carbide with 33 years of service. Johnny enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Brenda Woods Frazer; son, Steve (Terri) Frazer of Alum Creek, WV; daughter, Beverly (Terry) Casto of Palestine, WV; grandchildren, Rob (Anna) Frazer of Alum Creek, WV, Matt (Rachel) Frazer of Mars, PA, Stephanie Frazer of Alum Creek, WV; great grandchildren, Wright and Autumn Frazer, Leighton, Kashton, and Taytum Frazer; sister in spirit, Bonnie Worley.

Service will be 11:00am, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Dent officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be 3:00pm, at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.

Mechelle Marie Williams, 46, of Charleston, passed peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Hospice West with her family by her side.

She was a graduate of Duval High School and Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. She worked as a Respiratory Therapist with CAMC.

Mechelle was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Chapman; grandparents, Thomas Dale Pauley, Lillian Chapman & Robert Chapman, Sr.

She is survived by her children, Cordale Williams, Paige Williams, Landun Jarrell, and Ky’len Jarrell; father and stepmother, Kenneth (Brenda) Pauley; grandmother, Stella Cecil; brother, Kenneth Pauley, Jr.; sisters, Breaunna Pauley, Khloe Pauley, and Kendra Pauley; and many other family members and friends.

Shirley Lee Dunlap, 85, of Yawkey departed this earth for Heaven Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. She was met at the pearly gates by the love of her life Eugene.

Shirley was also, preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Hazel Armstrong Dunlap; baby sister, Delores Ann Dunlap.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana Doerr, Robin (Robert) Dunlap, and Donna (Jeff) Linville; sons, Jeff (Joan) Dunlap and Ronnie (Tonya) Dunlap; sisters, Emma Jean Dunlap and Pat McGhee; brother, Lonnie (Dottie) Dunlap; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Powers, Paula (Sarah) Dunlap, Stephanie (Nick) Blake, Ashley Dunlap, Eugene (Qiana) Dunlap, Stephen (Lindsay) Dunlap, Scott (Lindsay) Dunlap, Jeffery Linville (Megan), Ashtyn Linville (Brandon), Brittany (Austin) Cooper, Whitney Dunlap (Tristan); 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Clinton Flowers, 86, of Scott Depot joined his loving wife of 64 years, Pardy, on Sunday morning, February 4, 2024.

Kenneth retired from Rite Aid as a truck driver. He was a great outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and spending his time reminiscing about history.

Kenneth is survived by his special friend, who was like a son to him, Jonathan (J.T.), wife, Missy and daughter, Kaibrea Tyler; sister, Alice Evon (Willie) Smith; nieces, Kay Pennington & family, Kerry Lea & family; nephews, Kenny Farley & family, Frankie Farley.

Teisha Racheal Cooper, 30, of Yawkey, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at home.

Teisha is survived by children, Caleb Cooper, Skylar Adkins, and Tyler Adkins; mother and stepfather, Melissa Adkins (James Breedlove); father, Greg Cooper; sister, Shasta Cooper; half-sister, Arianna Daniels; brothers, Craig Cooper, Dustin Cooper, Trevor Cooper, and Michael Mahar; grandparents, Kessley “Chippy” and Lillian Adkins, Clyde and Lucy Mae Cooper; great grandparents to her children, the late Dennis and Rose Adkins; 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Chuck “Pappy” Parrish, Sr., 59, of Alkol, formerly of Wilson, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at his home in Alkol, WV.

Chuck served 12 years in the military including time in Afghanistan and Desert Storm.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Oral Katherine Powell Parrish.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky; children, Shannon Nicole (Seth) Taylor, Charles (Angela) Parrish, Jessica (Aaron) Jones; stepchildren, Shelly (Ray) Sawyer and George Randall Putman, II; father, Samuel Parrish; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Christene) Parrish; half-brothers, Buddy Parrish and Richard Brown.

A private family service will be held at home at a later date.
