Ronald Kyle Whitten, Jr (Ronnie) 55 of Griffithsville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2026, due to cardiac arrest.

He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Kyle Whitten, Sr, niece, Katelyn Renea, Maternal Grandparents: Millard and Rebel (Purdy) Toney, Paternal Grandparents: Kenneth and Hazel (Bays) Whitten.

Those left to cherish his memory; his mother Katherine Whitten of Griffithsville, Sister Renea Christian (Bobby) of Griffithsville, Niece Kaylee Christian and Nephew Kyle Christian both of Griffithsville, Great Nephew Emmitt Christian of Griffithsville. Best friend he loved like a brother, Alan Settle of Alum Creek.

He was a 1988 Duval High School Graduate. He graduated with honors and lettered in basketball, football and baseball. He was a 1993 Graduate of West Virginia State with a degree in business and minor in economics.

Ronnie was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was a devoted family man, faithful Christian who loved to listen to gospel music and preaching. He was a member of the Kanawha Southern Football Officials Association and the Southern Basketball Officials Associations for more than 25 years. He loved spending time at his Summersville home; enjoying the lake and relaxing on the pontoon. He loved watching football and cooking shows. He was employed by Frontier for close to 30 years; here he made lifelong friends across the country when he traveled. He was known for his kind heart and willingness to help others.

Ronnie was a passionate mentor to young people. He spent many years coaching basketball, teaching not only fundamentals of the game but character as well. He also faithfully served in his church by teaching Vacation Bible School, sharing his love of God and helping children grow in their faith.

He cherished family vacations creating countless memories filled with laughter, adventure and togetherness. While we are grateful for the years and memories we shared, a piece of us will be forever gone with his passing. His love, guidance, laughter and unwavering presence leave an emptiness that can never be filled. We look forward to that great reunion day in heaven with him.

Service will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastors Richard McCallister and Don Tabor officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, WV. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Lincoln EMS and WVU Thomas for the prompt care they provided through this tragedy.

William Glenn “Bill” Farley, 39, of Griffithsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Born December 8, 1986, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of Herbert Farley, Jr. and Sherri Preece. Bill moved to Griffithsville in 2002 and was a 2005 graduate of Hamlin High School.

A certified diesel mechanic by trade, Bill’s greatest passion in life was youth sports. He dedicated many years to serving the Lincoln County community as a youth soccer and basketball coach, deeply touching the lives of every player who crossed his path.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Farley, Jr.; his oldest brother, Thomas Francis; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Iva Meade; and his paternal grandparents, Herbert, Sr. and Ruby Farley.

Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his beloved daughters, Makenzie and Emily Farley of Hamlin; his parents, Sherri and Jeff Preece of Griffithsville; his brothers, Herb (Amanda) Farley of St. Albans, Justin Farley of McCarr, KY and Jate Preece (Bailey Adkins) of Griffithsville; his sister, Alexus Farley of McCarr, KY; his nephew, Hayden Farley; his niece, Harper Farley; and his lifelong friends, Bert Ward and Michael Joyce.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, June 12, 2026, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastor Rick Cooper officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the funeral home.

William Garrett “Gary” Boardman, 53, of Charleston passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026, at WVU Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Gary was a graduate of South Charleston High School and former employee of South Charleston Stamping Plant. He was a big cut up, always making jokes. He loved to fish and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending time with his grandbabies.

Gary is survived by his parents, Charles and Donna Worstell Boardman; wife, Michelle Boardman; daughters, Alexis Frost (Michael) and Kyra Boardman (Dyllan Bridges); stepsons, Jacob Bleigh and Dillon Bleigh; grandchildren, Jackson & Sawyer Frost and Willow & Parker Bleigh; sisters, Rebecca Boardman (Cliff Yuill) and Crystal Brinkley; nieces and nephews, T.J. Harper, Delaney & Kade Brinkley, James Alec Haas; canine companion, Precious.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arthur Raymond “Tommy” Thomas, 83 of Hurricane went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 3, 2026 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

Tommy served his country as a longtime member of the WV Air National Guard.  He was a Master Sargeant and aircraft electrical supervisor for the 130th Tactical Airlift Wing. Tommy was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, St. Albans for over 50 years where he served as deacon, trustee, and custodian.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur and Rachel Randles Thomas, his daughter, Carla Renee Thomas, and brother, Randy Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glenda Walton Thomas; Son, Carl Ray Thomas (May); daughter, Amanda Beth Harper (Michael), granddaughter, Sarah Thomas; Brothers, Glenn Thomas, Terry Thomas (Brenda), sister; Robin Adams (Joe), sister in law, Nancy Thomas.  Tommy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday June 6, 2026 at Bethany Baptist Church, St. Albans with Pastor Jody Harless officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Family and friends will visit one hour prior to the service at the Church.  

Hannah Lynn Ball

Hannah Lynn Ball, 51, of Sod went home May 28, 2026, at her farm in Sod.

Hannah was a fierce mama to her boys. She was a great cook, she loved the mountains, fishing, and visiting the ocean. She was the proud owner of Big Earl’s Campground in Julian and Legacy Investments, LLC. She was a hard worker, single mother, providing for her family working like a man, with the warmth of a mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Becky Ball; and her infant brother.

Hannah is survived by her boys, Wyatt, Jesse, and Nathan.

A memorial service will be 5:00pm, Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Big Earl’s Campground, Julian.

Mary Elizabeth Holdren

Mary Elizabeth Holdren, 74, of Sumerco passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Mary was a homemaker and was married to the late, Carl P. Holdren.

She is survived by her sons, Carl (Amanda) and Robbie Holdren; brother, Eddie Wright; special friend, Pamela McGilton; former daughter-in-law, Velva Holdren; grandchildren, Maxwell Holdren, Isiac, Joseph, Breanna, and Joshua Holdren.

Services will be held at a later date.

Michael “Mike” Lee Lowe, 47, of St Albans, WV departed this life on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Mike was born March 14, 1979, in Fort Myers, Florida, a son of the late Ralph and Della Lowe.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister Lisa Lynn.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children Michael Lowe Jr and Alexis Lowe; siblings Gary “Bubba D” Lowe, Joany Lawless, Debbie Blair, and Tabitha Adkins. Mike was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his grandson due in August 2026.

Mike’s legacy of humor, perseverance, and infectious laughter will be carried on by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Graceland Memorial Park in South Charleston, WV.

Constance Joan “Jo Ann” Myers, 71, of South Charleston, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026, at WVU Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Jo Ann loves to attend church and spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Myers; parents, Clarence & Catherine Penrod White and Charles & Laura Sigmon.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Sigmon and Davena Sigmon; grandchildren, Cory (Ashley) Sigmon, Shantel Sigmon, Kiarra (Michael) Sigmon; brothers, Joe (Happy), Sam, and Roger White; sisters, Joyce Dodson, Susie Kearns, Debra Sigmon, Bonnie (David) Williams; great grandchildren, Bentley Clark, Qynton Sigmon, Adalyn Sigmon, Aliaz Sigmon; several nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.

Barry Paul Callahan

Barry Paul Callahan, 70, of Sod, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marcie Callahan; wife, Susan Callahan; son, B.J. Miller, and several brothers and sisters.

Barry is survived by his sons, Jeff (Alicia), James (Amanda), and Barry, Jr.; grandchildren, Haylee, Eric, Chloie, Bentley, Hunter, Chelsea, and Cadence; great grandson, Weston; best friend, Brock Justice; brothers, Pat Callahan and Johnny Callahan; and several nieces and nephews.

Barry will be cremated and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Phyllis Kay Dunlap

Phyllis Kay Dunlap, 78, of Sod, WV, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV after a brief illness.

She was born on June 13, 1947, to the late Van and Naomi Pauley of Sod, WV.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 57 years, Linuel R. “Buddy” Dunlap, her beloved son, Cameron Dunlap (Cindy) of Ravenswood, WV, her Grandson, Evan Dunlap also of Ravenswood, WV. She is also survived by her brother, Van Pauley of Sod, WV, and her sister Kathy Buckland of Tornado, WV, nephews and her very dear friend, Kathy Cummings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious Grandson, Ethan Dunlap, of Ravenswood, WV. Ethan was her miracle Grandbaby born severely premature at just 1 lb., 8 oz. and he was her pride and joy, along with his brother Evan. Ethan just recently passed away on February 23, 2026, and without the confines of his wheelchair, we know that he stood straight and ran to her with open arms welcoming her into paradise.

Phyllis was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening her beautiful flowers every summer.

Visitation will be from 12:00pm – 1:00pm, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, WV, with Pastor Robert McCallister officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco, WV.
