Hugh O. Jones, 80 of Griffithsville, died Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at home after a long illness.

He was a retired store manager for Rose Shopping Center, Alum Creek , a WWII Army Veteran where he served as a member of the Old Ironside 1st Armored Division.

He was a POW for 27 months and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Alum Creek VFW Post # 4768 and a former member of the Alum Creek Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Lilly.

He is survived by: Wife: Louise; 5 Sons Gene Ray Jones of Norfolk, VA; Olin Lee Jones of Griffithsville, W V; Ralph Edward of Griffithsville, WV; Bryant Keith of Griffithsville, WV; Kenneth Alan Jones of Griffithsville, WV; 1 Daughter: Sheila Jamison of Morgantown, WV; 10 Grandchildren; Special Caregiver: Katie Runyon of Sias, WV; Special Friend: Bill Turley of Sod, WV.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Friday, December 1, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post #4768. Friends may call on Thursday, November 30, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Pearl A. Holstein Graley, 80 of South Charleston, died Saturday, November 18, 2000 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, after a long illness.

She was a homemaker, a member of Leon Memorial Church at Olcott, and a life long resident of Kanawha county.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Mayford Witt and Eddie Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Brounland Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, November 20, 2000 at the funeral home.

Nathan Ray Turley, 45 of Alum Creek, died Thursday, November 16, 2000 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short illness.

He was a mechanic, a 1974 graduate of Duval High School, Griffithsville, and a life long resident of Lincoln County.

He is survived by his: Wife: Deborah Kay Turley; 1 Daughter: Crystal Turley of Alum Creek, WV; 1 Son Christopher Turley of St. Albans, WV; 3 Grandchildren: Shanika King; Dustin Turley; Zane Turley.

Services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2000 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Frank Chapman and Rev. Elmer Stowers officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call on Sunday, November 19, 2000 from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home.

Clifford “Blinky” Clendenin, 89 of Alum Creek, was found dead near Kanawha State Forest on Tuesday, November 7, 2000 after being reported missing since September 13, 2000.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers. He was a Christian and attended the Olcott House of Prayer.

He is survived by his: 5 Daughters: Reba Kuhn of Julian, WV; Susie Clendenin of Alum Creek, WV; Brenda Dunbar of St. Albans, WV; Patricia Clendenin of CA; Sheltie Clendenin of Kanawha City, WV; 7 Sons: Robert Clendenin of Sissonville, W V; James Clendenin of St. Albans, WV; Harold Clendenin of Charleston, WV; Bill Clendenin of Alum Creek, WV; Doug Clendenin of CA; Frank Clendenin of MN; Kelly Clendenin of Charleston, WV; 30 Grandchildren; and 26 Great Grandchildren.
