Nettie Egnor Stowers, 88, of Griffithsville died Thursday, October 7, 1999 at home after a long illness.

She was a graduate of Duval High School, Griffithsville and of the former Morris Harvey College, Charleston. She was a retired Lincoln county school teacher with 36 years of service and she was a member of the Amy Missionary Baptist Church, Yawkey.

She is survived by her: 1 Daughter: Rosemary Bell of Yawkey, WV; 1 Son: Edgar Stowers of Charleston, WV; 4 Grandchildren: Debbie Hill of Jonesville, NC; Kim Chapman of Alum Creek, WV; Teresa Lowery of Lawrenceville, GA; Kelli DeMicco of Charleston, WV; 2 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Friday, October 8, 19J9 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Thelma Jean Henderson Pierce, 71, of Tappahannock, Virginia died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia following a cerebral hemorrhage and brief hospitalization.

She attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston , was a former employee of Union Carbide, South Charleston, was an apartment rental manager in Arlington, Virginia, a homemaker, and was a member of the Northern Neck Baptist Church, Callao, Virginia.

She is survived by her: Husband: Edward; 1 Daughter: Dee Huss of Manassas, VA; 3 Sons: Edward Pierce of Arlington, VA; Thomas Pierce of Chantilly, VA; Daniel Pierce of Manassas, VA; 1 Sister: Mildred “Midge” Hendricks of Scott Depot, WV; 4 Grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans, on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Charles Hendricks and Rev. Curtiss Stewart officiating. Burial will be held in the Henderson Family plot at Cunningham Memorial Pazk, St. Albans. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Missions Fund, Northern Neck Baptist Church, PO Box 177, Callao, Virginia 22435. There will be no visitation. Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek, is in charge of arrangements.

Estil “Windy” Loftis, 89, of Sumerco died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the home of his daughter, Norma Roberts after a short illness.

He was retired from Kanawha Block, Charleston, a life long resident of Lincoln County, and he attended the former Summit Church of God, Sumerco.

He is also survived by his: 2 Sons: Jack Loftis of Elkins, WV; Gerald Loftis of Barboursville, WV; 1 Foster Son: Eugene Rose of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 1 Foster Daughter: Brenda Doody of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 3 Brothers: Elwood Loftis of Van, WV; Ted Loftis of Sod, WV; Ervin Loftis of Cross Lanes, WV; 1 Sister: Elsie McCormick of Alkol, WV; 11 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren

Graveside services will be held at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, on Friday, October 8, 1999 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dwight McClure officiating. There will not be a visitation. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in care of arrangements.

Catherine Jane “Cathy” Angel, 47 of Alum Creek, died Monday, October 4, 1999.

She was a former employee of Wal-Mart at Southridge and she was a Baptist.

She is survived by her: Husband: Larry; 2 Sons: Larry Angel, Jr. at home; Timothy Angel at home; 6 Sisters: Mary Stover of Dunbar, WV; Thelma James of Charleston, WV; Norma James of Charleston, WV; Kyletta Shaffer of Pt. Lloyd M. Kidd, 87, of Alum Creek died Monday, October 4, 1999 at home after a long illness.

He was retired from F.M.C. Corp. in South Charleston with 35 years of service. He was a Christian and a member of the Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod.

Ray A. Pauley

Ray A. Pauley, 80, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, died Tuesday at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Pauley was born in Lincoln County, West Virginia and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1995 moving from Mount Gilead, Ohio. He had also lived in Cleveland, Ohio from 1955 1981.

He worked as a tow motor operator for the General Motors/Fisher Body, Euclid Avenue, Cleveland for 25 years retiring in 1981. He was a motorman for Detroit Mines and Y & O Mines, Boone County, West Virginia in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. He was a member of United Auto Workers local 1045, a life member of the National Rifle Association, a VIP (Volunteer in Parks) for the Ohio State Parks after retiring in 1981. He was an avid camper, hunter, fisherman and he also loved to travel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Pauley, his parents, Raymond E. and Bessie J. Pauley, and his three sisters, Emmajean May, Catherine King and Mildred Bias.

He is survived by his: 1 Son: Gary L. Pauley of North Ridgeville, OH: 1 Step-Son: Edward Acord of Cleveland, OH; 4 Step-Daughters: Diana Morris of Sheffield Lake, OH; Wanda Jones of Sheffield Lake, OH; Jackie Smith of Columbus, OH; Phyllis Anderson of Mount Juliet, TN; 1 Brother: Edsel Pauley of Woodford, VA; 4 Grandchildren: David; Steven; Tammy; and Brian Pauley; 9 Step-Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren

He was a Vietnam army veteran and was a Christian.

She was a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ, attended Moms Harvey College Charleston and was a school teacher at Angel Branch Elementary in Lincoln County. She was an employee of Cabin Creek Quilts, where she served on the Board ofDirectors and was also a member ofMountain Artisans. She was an avid gardener and was well known for her day lilies.
