Connie Lea McCallister, 45, of Alum Creek passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at home.

She worked in medical records at CAMC and was a member of the Beckley Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her Fiancé, Paul Masley; brother, Jerry McCallister; sisters, Donna Webb and Dora (Clinton) Bragg; and her four-legged baby, Killer.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman offciating. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father John Cabello.

He is survived by his mother Velma Harmon and his 3 brothers John, Eric, and Neal Cabello.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 9th 2013, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery Alum Creek.

Family and friends will gather 1 hour prior to the service.

Easter RichmondEaster G. Richmond, 90, of St. Albans, WV, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2013. She was born in Robinson, WV, to Doliver and Clara Welch. Easter was a homemaker and a loving wife to Basil W. Richmond for 47 years. She was also an excellent seamstress for many customers whom she sewed for, for more than 50 years.

She was a loving and giving mother of two daughters: Janet Irene (Russell) Smith of Ravenswood, WV, and Clara Joy (Albert Dale) Roush of St. Albans, WV. She was a wonderful grandmother to four grandsons and one granddaughter: Doug (Kristen) Smith of Millwood, WV, Mike Smith, of Ravenswood, WV, Matt (Drema) Smith of Ravenswood, WV, David (Stephanie) Roush of Culloden, WV, and Sherry (Michael) Haynes of St. Albans, WV. She had nine great-grandchildren who adored her very much: Brandon Haynes, Kristopher Haynes, Scott Roush, Caroline Roush, Matthew Smith, Jr., Morgan Smith, Mason Smith, Jilliana Smith, Nolan Smith and one step-granddaughter, Hayley.

She is also survived by two sisters: Bernice Justice of Vinton, Ohio, and Ammie Hysell of Wilkesville, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews who have many fond memories of her. Another one of Easter’s many talents was her superb cooking, family and friends could not wait for an invitation to dinner for some of her mouth watering biscuits and homemade apple butter.

Easter was preceded in death by her husband Basil W. Richmond, sister, Gladys Molden of Salem Center, Ohio and brothers, Russell Welch of Culloden, WV, and Julian Welch of Middleport, Ohio.

The family would like to extend their deepest love and appreciation to all of the staff of Valley Center and to the very special ladies of Hospice for their excellent care and outpouring of love for our mother and the entire family. Their care and love will never be forgotten. Thank you!

Services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Avenue, St. Albans, with Pastor Mark Stauffer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 4:00 PM at Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, WV.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Boulevard, W., Charleston, WV 25387-2536.

Leffie Smith
Leffie Smith Jr. “Smitty”, 87, of Charleston passed away December 3, 2013 at home with his family by his side.

He was a retired jeweler and watch maker from B & B Loan in Charleston and also a WW II Veteran.

Smitty is survived by his wife: Marceline; sons, Barry (Dottie) Smith and Kevin Smith of Charleston; daughter, Robin (Corky) Mann of Richmond, VA;brothers; Ray (Florence) Smith and Larry Gene (Chloe) Booth; three grandchildren, Melissa, Trevor and Rick; step grandson, Bryan and great grand-daughter, Sydney.

Services will be 2:30 PM Friday, December 6th, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens Yawkey.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

Judy Nickles Egnor

Judy Nickles Egnor, 58, Alum Creek, went home to be with the Lord at CAMC – Memorial on Monday, November 25, 2013, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents ,Oral & Ivy Nickles and brother, James B. Nickles.

She was a graduate of Van High School. From the age of 15 she worked and later became owner of the Stanard Supply “Company Store” in Twilight, and later worked as office manager (CIM) and medical billing clerk in Charleston.

Most importantly, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
She was a member of the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jerry; Daughter, Misty (Anthony) Elkins; son: Travis (Amy) Richmond; stepdaughter: Terri (Bill) Zirkle; 3 granddaughters; Brittany, Lindsey & Taylor; 2 brothers: Larry (Becky) Nickels and Gary (Kimberly) Nickles.

Services will be 2:00pm on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman and Curtis Elkins officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the serivce.

Burnie Harold Smith, 82, of Tornado passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Braley Care Home St. Albans after a long battle with alzheimer’s disease.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Willard and Stella Clay Smith, brothers Billy and Leo Smith and sister Ilene Long.

Burnie was a retired Master Sergeant in the U S Air Force, with 20 years service from the Berlin Airlift, through the Vietnam War. He was a retired Coal Miner and a member of the UMWA.

Burnie is survived by his wife; Norma, sons; Carl (Gail) Smith of Shallotte, NC, Teddy (Teresa) Smith of Sod, Terry (Melody) Smith of Sumerco, Anthony (Joyce) Smith of Yawkey, Charles Smith of Shallotte, Curtis (Heather) Smith of Davidson, NC, daughter Katherine (Craig) Heinaman of Dunbar, brother Shelby Smith of Morrisvale, ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday November 27, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial with military grave side rites will follow at Forks of Coal Memorial Park Alum Creek. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charlotte Marian McGraw, 81, of South Charleston went home to the Lord Thursday, November 21, 2013 at home after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob McGraw; parents John and Maggie Rabel; brothers, John B. and Keith Rabel and sister, Phyllis Pauley.

Charlotte was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and for many years loved taking care of children although she had none of her own.

She is survived by her; sister Shirley Holstine (Bob), brother; Tom Rabel, step-children; Jeff McGraw and Debbie Bagby; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and caregiver, Lori Grounds.

Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, November 23, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Wallace York officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ronald Byron Green

ronald Byron Green 1Ronald Byron Green passed away peacefully at Medical City Dallas on Sunday morning November 3, 2013 with his family by his side. Ronald was born May 28, 1946 in Charleston, WV to Richard Baxter Green and Doris Shelton Green. He graduated from Charleston High School, Charleston, WV and attended Concord University, Athens, WV. He enlisted in the US Navy and was a Corpsman on the US Great Sitkin Ammunition Ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

He had the privilege in working with many great associates at Kanawha Valley Bank in Charleston, WV. His most recent employment has been a Compliance Auditor with Williams Financial Investment Group in Dallas, TX.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Green Hartwell, step-father, Doyle Hartwell in St. Albans, WV, his daughter, Stacey Rayburn and husband Brad; sons, Jason Green and wife, Lana, Brian Green and Zachary Green, all residing in the Dallas, TX area.

A memorial service was held Friday, November 8, 2013 at North Dallas Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the charity of your choice.

Hubert Junior Pauley

He was preceded in death by his Father, Reverend Hubert Pauley and mother Mary Ellen Bennett Pauley, sisters, Shelvey Jean Pauley Domingue, Norita Mae Pauley, and brother Jahue Frederick Pauley, and son Steve Pauley.

Junior was a retired carpenter, a member of Carpenters Local 1207, a member of the Alum Creek Independent Missionary Baptist Church and a Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Anna, daughters; Rebecca Harper, Deborah Pauley and Sally (Mike) Adkins, son; Mark Pauley, stepchildren; Clifford, Erne Linn, Alice Thibodeanx, Brenda Hofstadt, Everett, John, and Rick Messer, sisters Evelyn Kinnison and Janice McKeel, brother William “Wink” Pauley, 3 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.

Service will be ll:00 AM Friday at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park South Charleston. Family and friend will gather from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Glen Gillispie

Glen Gillispie, 71, of Sod died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at home.

He was a boiler maker with Bolt Manufacturing.

He is survived by his brother, Elworth Gillispie; sisters, Betty Lacy, Emma Jean Pauley and Mae Dunlap and niece, Marlene (John) Solberg.

Graveside Service will be 4:30 pm Tuesday, November 12th at Lacy Family Cemetery, Priestley Ridge, Sumerco, WV.
