Adam J. Baire, 51, of Alum Creek went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at home after long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Haden and Mary Baire; brothers, Willie and David.

Adam is survived by eleven siblings, Greathel Lovejoy, Basil (Joyce) Baire, Junie (Buddy) Kirk, Martha Holstein, Linzie (Janet) Baire, Bawfurd and Bob Baire, William (Donna) Baire, Joyce (Danny) Pauley, Hazel (Terry) Rabel and Mary (Barney) Johnson. Special nephew, Rocky Baire, who was like a brother to Adam and several other nieces, nephews, and family.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, August 3, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Kenneth Samms and Daniel Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Brounland Cemetery, Alum Creek. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Thomas Edmund Malone

Thomas MaloneThomas Edmund Malone, 52, of Statts Mill, Ripley, went home to be with the  Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Genevieve and Thomas Malone and brother, James G. Malone.

Tommy was a 1981 graduate of George Washington High School and was General Manager of J and M Industrial, Inc., of Millwood, WV for 20 plus years.   He was an avid fisherman and loved tending to his garden at his dream home on the lake.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Teresa Malone;  daughters, Amanda and Christina and son, Phillip of Charleston; brother, Mike Malone of Newport News, Va; sister, Patricia Malone Riley (Dave) of Ohio and sister-in-law, Cheryl Malone of Charleston.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins, many lifelong friends and co-workers.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 1, at  Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Joey Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Family and friends will gather 2 hours prior to the service  at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations toward the funeral service.

Robert Lee Payne

Robert PayneRobert Lee Payne 82 of Hurricane died Saturday, July 19, 2014  at CAMC Memorial Division surrounded by his family and a host of friends after a sudden illness.

He was a graduate of So Charleston High School and attended Morris Harvey College.  He was a U. S.  Navy Veteran, a member of the St. Albans Masonic Lodge #58 AF & AM and retired from Chemical Leaman Tank Lines at Institute.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 54 years, Opal Miller Payne, Wonderful son Tony (Tonya) Payne of Hurricane, Two grandchildren who were the love of his life, Ashlee and Tyler Payne of Hurricane,   Brother: Bill (Juanita) Payne of Ravenswood, Brother in Law: Edgar Gene Miller, Sisters in Law: Shirley (David) Waldron and Kathy Reed.  Special Nephews: Eddie (Drema) Walker  and Randy (Sherry) Payne.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Rd., Alum Creek, with Pastor Mark Thaxton Officiating.  Family and friends will gather From 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.   A graveside service with military graveside rites by the Alum Creek VFW 4768 will be held at the Miller Family Cemetery on Saturday August 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm for all who wish to come.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sampath, Dr. Keith, Dr. Joseph, Dr. White,  Dr. Matulis, Dr. Ashaab,  Dr. Gray,  the nursing staff on 4 South, 5 West, open heart recovery and Cath Lab  for the great care Robert received during this illness.

 

William StapletonWilliam Chauncey Stapleton, 48, of South Charleston flew away home this morning, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 6:20 am  to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

He served the Lord with gladness for 20 years and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.  He was a former employee of Mouldagraph Corp., Nitro, where he had many friends 

William was predeceased by his parents, Johnathan and Clara Stapleton and brother, Gary Harris.  

He leaves behind a loving wife of 16 years, Shiela Denise;  brothers and sisters, John Basham and companion, Judy, of Huntington, Zola McCoy of Proctorville, Oh,  Hattie Hensley of Huntington, James Stapleton and wife, Kate, of Pa., Rosie Beach of Huntington, and Daniel Stapleton and companion, Sharon, of Point Pleasant; father and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Eva Gibson of So. Charleston; six nephews, four nieces,  special sister and brother-in-law, Daisy and Randy Searls; special nephews, Nathaniel Lane and Jonathan Warren Searls; special niece, Hannah Elizabeth Searls; and especially his beloved cat, Gracie.  He was  loved by a host of great friends and loved ones.  

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, July 18, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Dwight McClure and Chuck Adkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. 

The family would like to express a special thank you to all his cancer doctors and Hospice West for all their love and support.

Clarence “Dickie” Whitlock, 75, of Alum Creek died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at home after a short illness.

He was owner and operator of the Kanawha Grill in Charleston and served in the U. S. Army for over  seven years.

Dickie was preceded in death by his son, Johnny.

He is survived by daughters, Cathy Morrone of St. Petersburg, FL and Crystal Miron of Grovetown, GA; stepson, Jay Morrone of St. Albans; grandchildren, Allison Jane, Logan James, Mia Gabrielle and Elijah William; siblings, Mary Jo, Carol, Alan, Terry, Elwood, Wayne, Shelly and Mark.

Elizabeth Junline Elkins

Elizabeth Junline Elkins, 65, of Alkol, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Boone Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, daughter, Angie, daughter-in-law, Becky and parents Arthur and Pearl Adkins.

She is survived by son: Robert Lee Elkins, Jr; daughter: Nancy (Greg) Rhodes; grandchildren; Robert Elkins and Danielle Allen.  She was like a second mom to J.R. and P.A. Adkins; Brothers: John and Joe Adkins; Sisters: Lucy Nugent, Vicky (Charles) Darby,  Dorse Adkins, Pammy Bailey; Tammy (Ray) Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00pm Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Bulger Community Church with Pastor K. D. Bragg officiating.  Burial will follow at Hager Family Cemetery at Alkol.  Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 – 8:00pm Wednesday, July 16th  at the church.

The Family would like to thank all who helped during Mom’s illness from Lincoln County Ambulance to the dialysis center.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made toward funeral services.

 

Carolyn Lee Miller

Carolyn  MillerCarolyn Lee Miller, 61, of Alkol born July 9, 1952 went to a beautiful place to be with her parents Rosanell and Willie Peters and her brother Dudley Peters.

Carolyn lived in Alkol most of her life. She was a homemaker, loved hunting, bowling and her dogs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmommy, and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Terry, sons, Ronald Lee Solt, Jr. of St. Albans and William Dorsey Miller of Alkol,  grandchildren, Terry Lee Solt, Dakota William Miller, Cody and Amanda Dotson.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.

Per Carolyn’s request she will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to go toward funeral services.

Mollie Ann Hughes

Mollie HughesMollie Ann Hughes, 59, of Peytona, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the home of her sister, Margaret Slone, after a long illness.

She was born July 4, 1954 to the late Cecil and Betty Atkins and also was preceded in death by her husband of 39 1/2 years Michael and brother Jackie Atkins.

She was a lifelong resident of Boone County.

Mollie is survived by her; sons, Mickey (Angie) Hughes and Matthew R. Hughes; granddaughters, Vanessa Brook and Ammie Nichole Hughes all of Drawdy; special niece, Betty (BJ) and Travis Jarrell; grandkids, Brandon Jarrell of Drawdy, and Kate Wall of Comfort, great grandson, Troy Davis; special nephew, Roger “P-Nut” (Bobbi) Pauley of Griffithsville; lifelong friends, Johnny (Susie) Long of Sod, and a host of family and friends.

Siblings, Janice (Danny) Allen, Margaret (Ronnie) Slone, Johnny (Lydia) Atkins, Vicky (David) Crone, Debra (Harley) Barker, and Drema (Dennis) Tomblin.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Miller Cemetery,  Ely Road,  McCorkle with Pastor Roger Halstead officiating burial will follow. There will be no visitation.

Kenneth Darian Webb

Kennith WebbKennith Darian Webb, 67. of Sod went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Hospice West, South Charleston.

He was a former baker at Spring Hill Pastry, South Charleston; he served in the U. S. Navy  during the Vietnam War;  a Christian and a member of Joe’s Creek Baptist Church.

Kennith was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mabel Webb; brothers, Mike, Bobby, Gifford and Cecil; sister, Gloria Jean Schronce and daughter, Regina Tackett.

He is survived by sons, Daniel Webb of Virginia Beach, Va; Kennith Jr. (Tina) Webb of Garretts Bend and Ricky (Emily) Webb of Mechanicsburg, Pa;  daughter, Crystal (John) Hampton of Huntington; step-son, Billy(Jessica) Walker of Columbus, Oh; brothers, James (Peggy) Webb, Richard (Helen) Webb and  Foster (Nancy) Webb; sister, Betty (Bobby) Means;   10 Grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins that will love and miss Ken very much.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1st, at Joe’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Robert McCallister officiating.  Burial will follow in the Webb-Means Cemetery at Tango with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

JACK E. JOHNSON, 86, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Ruth, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty (nee Farthing) and precious granddaughter Angela Johnson, siblings Dorothy, Eloise, Jim, Fred, Ernest, Earl, Don and John. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze star. He was the father of Diana Johnson, Debbie Spooner, Donna Spencer & Darla Orgovan. He was a Loving grandfather and great-grandfather.  Graveside service will be Noon Monday June 30 at Johnson Family Cemetery,Rable Mt. Road, South Charleston with Military Graveside Rites.
