Chuck Allen Smith, 41 of South Charleston, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000 after being struck by a train in South Charleston, WV.

He was a painting contractor and a protestant.

He is survived by: Mother: Carrol Manley of St. Albans, WV; Brother: Tracy Smith of St. Albans, WV; Maternal Grandmother: Agnes Adkins of St. Albans, WV.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Friday, May 19, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gail Medley officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek. Friends may call 1 hour prior to service on Friday.

Wanda J. Waldron, 75 of Cross Lanes, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, after a long illness.

She was preceded by her husband Clarence Carl Waldron and her son, Carl Edward Waldron.

She is survived by her: Son: Gary Waldron of Cross Lanes, WV Sister:Virginia Bennett of Nitro, WV 4 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church, Alum Creek, on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at 11:00AM with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek. Friends may call Friday, May 12, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Gardner Taylor, 77 of South Charleston, died Sunday, May 7, 2000 at Valley Health Village, South Charleston, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Sloan. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist.

She is survived by her: 4 Daughters: Patricia Clark of St. Albans, WV Mary Sansom of Sod, WV Vicki Pickens of South Charleston, WV Evelyn Sweeney of Belle, WV 1 Son: Garland Lee Gardner of San Bernadino, CA 1 Sister: Margie Miller of Moundsville, WV; 10 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside service will be Friday, May 12, 2000 at 2:00 PM at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes, with Pastor Dennis Barnhart officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, May 11, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Nettie E. McCartney, 87 of Alum Creek, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gray McCartney, was a former nurses aid at McMillion Hospital in Charleston and she was a Christian.

She is survived by her: Daughter: Jane Holovic of Alum Creek, WV; Brother: James Kinder of Blue Creek, WV; 2 Sisters: Florence Hartley of Inverness, FL; Rose Weema both of Inverness, FL; 8 Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Services will be held at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jesse P. Waggoner officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Phyllis A. Pauley, 77, of South Charleston, died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Ruby Memorial Hospital Morgantown, after a short illness.

She was a former employee of the Kanawha County Board of Education, a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Alum Creek, had served as a Sunday School teacher at the Center Point Christian Church in Doddridge County and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 4768, Alum Creek where she served as Conductress and was chair person of the National Home for Children.

She is survived by her: Son: John E. Rabel of Alum Creek, WV; Daughter: Charlene Ray of Alum Creek, W V; 3 Brothers: John B. Rabel of Alum Creek, W V; Keith Albert Rabel of Alum Creek, W V; Thomas E. Rabel of Alum Creek, W V; 2 Sisters: Charlotte M. McGraw of Alum Creek, WV; Shirley I. Holstine of Alum Creek, W V; 5 Grandchildren 4 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Tuesday May 2, 2000 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wallace York and Pastor Lloyd Humphreys officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek with a Ladies Auxiliary service at the graveside by her sisters of Post 4768. She was retired from Insurance Service Office in Charleston. A member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, South Charleston. A member of the Rebecca Lodge, South Charleston, and lifelong resident of Kanawha county.

She is survived by: 2 Daughters: Pamela Snodgrass of Hurricane, WV Carla Wade of St. Albans, WV 2 Grandchildren Carla Huffman Luke Wade 2 Great Grandchildren: Kearsten & Dylan Huffman.

Private Graveside Service will be be held Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at 3:30 PM at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston with Dr. John Allen officiating. There will be no visitation. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek is in charge of the arrangements.
