Emaline McDaniel “Bug” Watson, 86, born January 24,1917 , of Trace Fork, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 26, 2003, surrounded by her family caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Easter McDaniel; brother, Ivan “Snook”; sisters, Josephine M. Cantley and Helen Lee Pauley.

During WWII she worked for General Machinery and Blossom Dairy, but also did domestic work for families in the Kanawha Valley. She was a member of Trinity Independent Baptist Church, Ruth and she had also attended Ruth Community Church. She loved and was loved by all her brothers and sisters in Christ and her faithful pastor Gene Pauley.

She is survived by: 3 Daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Bennie Wade of South Charleston; Betty and William Kinder of Dunbar; Judy and Tommy Pauley of Richmond, VA; 1 Sister: Adaline “Sally” Sayre of St. Albans; 4 Grandsons: Billy Joe Cox and ex-wife Lori Ann; Jimmy Cox and wife, Beth; Robert L. Dodson II and Kelly Dodson; 3 Granddaughters: Teresa Pauley, Lori “Kicki”, Garrison and Casey Cook; 2 Great Granddaughters: Heather N. Cox amd Tiffanie Denton-Cox; 8 Special Neices and Nephews, 11 Great Neices and Nephews; Special friends and neighbors: James Carrol McCallister, Barbara and David Pauley, Wanda, Jim and Mark Motter and Ralph Pauley, a true friend, and a host of friends of all ages. She was a friend to all she met.

Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 29, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Pauley and Pastor Oren Thornhill officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park. Friends may call from 7 to 9 Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to express thanks to the nursing staff on two north at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston and to the Kanawha Hospice.

Vida Victoria Turley Pauley, 95, of South Charleston died Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Valley Health Care after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her pazents, Thomas and Vida Wood Turley; her husband, Eazl Pauley; son, David Eazl Pauley and grandson, Robert Eazl Pauley.

She was a homemaker and former member of Hilltop Baptist Church, South Charleston.

She is survived by: Daughter: Joanne Leety of FL; Son and daughter-in-law: Daniel and Ellen Cantley Pauley of Alum Creek; Granddaughters and husbands: Michelle and Norm Loy of FL; Melanie and Andy Sagcal, of NC; Grandson and wife: Tim and Beth Pauley of Alum Creek; 6 Great Grandchildren: Jessica West, Joshua and Rachel Pauley, Christian, Collin and Chloe Sagcal; Several nieces and nephews who loved her.

Service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Turley Cemetery, Brook Road, South Charleston. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Kevin Charles Miller

Kevin Charles Miller, 28, of Sod, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 as a result of injuries sustained in a single car accident at Alum Creek.

He was a graduate of Duval High School and attended West Virginia State College for three years. He was a member of the plumbers and pipefitters Loca1625 of Charleston. He was a natural artist and had participated in the martial arts for several years.

He is survived by his: Mother and Step-father: Patty and William “Squirmy” Spaulding of Tornado; Father and Step-mother: Victor “Flib” and Una Miller of Martinez, CA; 2 Half Brothers: Christopher Miller of Orlando, FL; David Miller of San Diego, CA; Several uncles, aunts and friends.

Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Ethel Hoy Ramkey

Ethel Hoy Ramkey, 90, of Charleston went to be with her husband, Robert Lee Ramkey on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at The Ridgemont at Edgewood Summit, Charleston.

She was a member of Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charleston for over 60 years.

She is survived by: Son: David Ramkey of Charleston, WV; Daughter: Susan Anderson of Elkins, WV; 2 Brothers: Joe Hoy of Belle, WV Ronald Hoy of Winston Salem, NC; 1 Sister: Viola Curran of Baltimore, MD; 2 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 13, 2003 at Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church, 317 W. Washington Street, Charleston with Rev. Bob Wood officiating. Burial will be in Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek.

The family would like to express thanks for all the excellent care given to Ethel by the staff of The Ridgemont at Edgewood Summit.

Russell “Rusty” Keith Ferrell, 45, of Huntington, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lillie Adkins and paternal grandparents, Crete and Dennis Ferrell.

Rusty worked at Special Metals of Huntington. He also was an associate with the Soundwave Productions, a music company that he loved and enjoyed. He was a member of the American Amateur Radio League. Rusty was a very loving and caring person. He will be missed by his family and a host of friends.

He is survived by his parents, Barbara and Dorsey Ferrell of Huntington; brother, Mike Ferrell of Atlanta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Sandy Ferrell of Proctorville, OH; niece, Becca Ferrell of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Chris Ferrell of Atlanta, GA; a very special partner, Sherry Salyers of Huntington and her daughter, Alyssa, whom he loved as his own.

Services will beheld at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

The pall bearers are Dana Hall, Don Whitener, Dan Howard, Mark Wills, Donny Stacy, Larry Evans, Hank Lewis and Lee Oxley.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses and all of the staff at St. Mary’s that did so much to give us comfort in our time of sorrow and for all the care given to Rusty in his time of need. A special thanks to Pastor Paul Meadows who was always there for us.

We thank God for allowing us to keep him with us for as long as he did. We will see him again in Heaven. Rest in peace, Rusty. We love you.

Randolph E. “Tugan” Banks, 79, of Alum Creek died Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Smith. He was a retired construction laborer with Laborers Local #1353, a former Justice ofthe Peace and Constable officer for Lincoln County, and a Marine veteran of WWII.

He is survived by: Wife: Olive; 2 Daughters: Beverly Rivenbark of North Carolina Jackie Hoover of Harrisville, WV; 2 Sons: Billy &Wayne both of Alum Creek; 1 Brother: Clarence E. Banks of Beckley; 1 Sister: Vera Mae Jones of Florida; 5 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

A graveside service will beheld at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Harry Payne officiating. Burial will follow. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the cemetery.

Patsy Jean Treadway

Patsy Jean Treadway, 56, of Scott Depot, formerly of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene Naylor; brother, James H. Naylor, Jr., and husband, Ronald Treadway.

She was a 10-year employee of Wal-Mart at Southridge. A member of Trinity Independent Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served as a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by: 1 Stepson: Scott Treadway of Charleston; 1 Stepdaughter: Laura Treadway of Charleston; 1 Sister: Linda Yates of Scott Depot; 3 Brothers: Stephen and Jerry Naylor both of Charleston; Donald Naylor of Belle; 4 Grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2003 at Trinity Independent Missionary Baptist Church, South Charleston, with Rev. Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.
