Crae Allen Justice

Crae Allen Justice, 11, of Alum Creek, and his grandfather, Dale Brian Cooper of Yawkey died Tuesday, August 10, 2004 on Route 3 at Yawkey from injuries they received in an automobile accident.

Crae was a sixth grade student at Midway Elementary, a member of the Duval Raiders Football Team, The Mountaineer Hawks Basketball Team and the Mountaineer Little League Mets Baseball Team. He attended Spirit Life Church in Dunbar.

He is survived by his pazents, Allen and Shawn Justice of Alum Creek; sisters, Natasha and Taylor Justice at home; paternal grandparents, Londis and Jana Justice; maternal grandparents, Steve and Debbie Roberts; maternal grandmother, Karen Cooper; paternal great grandmother, Olive Johnson; maternal great grandparents, Charles and Laura Sigmon; maternal great grandmother, Lucille Searls.

A joint service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 13, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Michael Dent, Pastor Frank Chapman and Pastor Rexal Cooper officiating. Crae will be buried in Johnson Family Cemetery, Alkol. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Dale Brian Cooper, 51, of Yawkey, and his grandson, Crae Allen Justice of Alum Creek, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004 on Route 3 at Yawkey from injuries they sustained in an automobile accident.

Dale is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Shawn Justice of Alum Creek, Draunta Dorsey of St. Albans; brothers, Larry, Gary and Romie Cooper; sisters, Carolyn Salmons and Phyllis Messer; three granddaughters.

A joint service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 13, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Rexal Cooper officiating. Dale will be buried in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Estella L. Mason, 89 of St. Albans, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at home after a short illness.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Park in South. Charleston. Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek is in charge of arrangements.

Julius Earl Seagraves

Julius Earl Seagraves, 72, of Alum Creek, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2004 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 25, 1932 , in Mingo County, West Virginia, the son of the late Ezzia Seagraves and Bessie Lee Hunnicutt Seagraves.

He was a Korean War Veteran and a retired coal miner.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Merle Sparks Seagraves; son’s and daughter’s in law, Robert and Dee Dee Seagraves of Savanna, GA, Tom and Lou Chafin of Alum Creek; daughters and son’s in law, Rose and Mark Hasen of Alkol, Betty and Sonny Gillenwater of Foster; sister, Delores Fliter of Tampa, FL; brothers, Jesse and George Seagraves both of Portsmouth, OH; grandchildren, Neil and Krystle Hasen, Jessica and Lindsay Chafin and Courtney Seagraves; great granddaughter, Julianna Hasen.

Services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Randall Kinder officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kanawha Hospice Care at 1143 Dunbar Ave. ,Dunbar, WV 25064.

Loretta Fay Whitten

Loretta Fay Whitten, 50 of Alkol, went home to be with the Lord, Friday July 23, 2004 at CAMC Memorial after a long illness.

She was a member of the Sycamore Grove Baptist Church at Alkol.

Loretta Fay is survived by her husband, Roger; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Courtney Whitten of Alkol; two brothers, Timmy Antill of Yawkey and David Antill of Millwood; three grandchildren, Madison Whitten; Weston and Cierra Meadows.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 26, 2004 at the Sycamore Grove Baptist Church at Alkol with Pastor Darrell Searls and Pastor Henry Estep officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens at Yawkey. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek and one hour prior to service at the church.

Mary Lee Estep

Mary Lee Estep, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2004 after a long illness.

She was retired from the VW Department of Finance and Administration and was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah A. and Vallie Mullins; daughter, Teresa Ann Estep and sister, Markel Rhodes.

She is survived by: Husband: Gene; Daughter: Tammy Estep of St. Albans; Sister: Doris Ann Estep of TN; Brother: Frankie Mullins of SC.

Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 19, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home before the service.

Mary was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She loved the Lord and it showed in her daily life.

Sallie Chandler Atkins

Sallie Chandler Atkins, 82, of Charleston passed away Thursday, July 15, 2004 after a short illness.

She was a graduate of Duval High School. She retired from the WV Department of Agriculture after 32 years of service with the state. She was a member of the Park Avenue Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Atkins; one daughter, Barbara Ann Valliere; parents, George and Leota Chandler of Lincoln County; two sisters, Ethleen Chandler and Gae Paxton; two brothers, Jess Chandler and Dana Harold Chandler.

She is survived by: 2 Daughters and son-in-law: Patsy Lee Carr of Charleston; Zola and Clay Miller of Spencer; Son and daughter-in-law: Roger and Shirley Atkins of Marietta, Ohio; Sister: Reba Egnor of Mineral Wells; 2 Brothers and sister-in-law: Troy Chandler of Spencer George, Jr.; Olivene Chandler of Ripley; 8 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Minister Jerry Alderson officiating. Burial will be in Orchards Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Robert R. “Bobby” Fields, IV, went home to be with the Lord on his 18th birthday, Thursday, July 15, 2004, after fighting a courageous battle with heart disease since birth.

He was a Junior at South Charleston High School and a member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church.
He is survived by: Mother: Paula Turley Fields; Father: Robert R. “Bob” Fields, III; Grandfather: Robert R. Fields; Grandmother: Jean Turley; Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 19, 2004 at Cross Lanes Baptist Church, 102 Knollwood Dr., Cross Lanes with Pastor Seth Polk and Pastor Greg Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Sharon Lynn Pauley

Sharon Lynn Pauley, 64, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 14, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Guy and Lona Keeling and brother, David Keeling.

She is survived by:

3 Daughters: Debra Griffith Sonya Core Leatha Flowers; 2 Sons: Steve Pauley; Eddie Pauley; 1 Brother: Larry Keeling; 3 Sisters: Betty Mays Ruth Clutz Faye Moxley; 22 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Roe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service.

She was a beloved mother and sister who will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
