John Glenn, 93, of South Charleston passed away Monday, October 25, 2004 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was a retired coal miner and member of UMWA. He was a Christian and member of Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; son and daughter-in-law, William L. and Jill Glenn of South Charleston; daughter, Nancy Nolan of South Charleston; four grandchildren, Cathy Brown and Bill, Tim and Rebecca Glenn; eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene, 102 Nazarene Drive, South Charleston, with Rev. Frank Goff officiating.Buria1 will be in Graceland Memorial Pazk. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek is in charge of arrangements.

Sibyl Eula McCoy Corns

Sibyl Eula McCoy Corns, known to many as “Piblish” passed away at the age of 86 following a long illness. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2004 at Hubbard Hospice House.

She had worked at G.C. Murphy Co., Kanawha County Schools and Thomas Memorial Hospital. She was a member of both the Davis Creek Nazarene Church and the Ruth Community Church. Most recently during her illness she has been ministered to by Rev. Fairley McCormick and Rev Tom Price of Charleston Mountain Mission.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings H. Corns; parents, Hiley and John C. McCoy; siblings: Janis Petts, Sydney McCoy and Mack McCoy.

She leaves behind a sister, Sylvia Webb of Walton; two daughters, Susan Corns and Jeanette Corns Hill, and her husband Lewis, all of South Charleston; two sons, Gary Corns and his wife, Janet of South Charleston, John Corns and his wife, Carolyn of Churchville, Virginia; seven beloved grandchildren, I S great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of close friends.

Much praise and appreciation is extended to the Hubbard Hospice House for their care and ministry.

Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 25, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Rev. Fairley McCormick and Rev. Tom Price officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call Sunday, October 24, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Kyle “Red” Dunlap

Kyle “Red” Dunlap, 84 of Alum Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Meadow Brook Assisted Living, Julian, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Burton Dunlap; parents, Lightburn and Amazon Dunlap; sisters, Opal Mikulonis, Ruby Sabino, Roma Linville, Mildred Antill, and Donna Mae Pieratt; brothers, Can, Russell and Royce Dunlap.

He was retired from Libby Owens Ford, Charleston, a Navy veteran of WWII, a member of the Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768 and was of the Baptist faith.
Red is survived by his sister-in-law, Dottie Dunlap and brother-in-law, Delano Burton; nieces and nephews; two special nephews, Bill Linville of Madison and Bill Dunlap of South Charleston; two special neighbors, Norma Blankenship and Herman Yeager.

Services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768 will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Diana L. Flowers

Diana L. Flowers, 48, of South Charleston, formerly of Griffithsville, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston after a short illness.
She was formerly a member of Tom’s Fork Assembly of God.

She is survived by her children, Todd Flowers, Tracie Flowers, and Stacy Hager; brother, Glen Gillenwater; sisters, Marsha Fennimore and Loma Rice; half brother, Freddie Cobb and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Glen Gillenwater officiating. Burial will be held in Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made toward the funeral service.

Clelia C. Mitchell

Clelia C. Mitchell, 98, of Alum Creek, went home to be with her Lord and Savior October 17, 2004, following a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Sylvia Duty. Her husband, Ralph C. Mitchell and son, Daniel Mitchell also preceded her in death.

Clelia served as a teacher in both Lincoln and Kanawha counties. She also taught at Mt. State Christian School in Culloden, W V for 13 years. She was a very faithful Christian and member of Alum Creek Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, pianist and a Board Member.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two sons and their wives: Orval and Dora Mitchell of Letart, WV; Rev. David and Mary Mitchell of South Charleston; Daughter and husband: Bethel and Robert Milne of Scott Depot, WV; Brother and sister-in-law: Thomas and Peggy Duty of Pensacola, FL; Sisters: Mabel Wadsworth of Darby, MT; Kathryn Dearth of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Jessie Platt-Walker of Wellsburg, WV; Grandchildren: John Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell (Amy), Cheryl Scites (Tim), Greg Snodgraass (Kim), Tyler Milne (Toni), Troy Milne (Jackie), Marlene Pickett (Jeri), Terri Dickerson (Rob). Eleven Great Grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, at Alum Creek Church of the Nazarene, Alum Creek, with Pastor David Dorsey and Rev. Matthew Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in The Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle, W V. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, at Alum Creek Church of the Nazarene, 1346 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV.

Mary Magdalene Baire

Mary Magdalene Baire, 86, of Brounland went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and a Christian.

She is survived by 12 children: Greathel Lovejoy; Basil & wife, Joyce Baire; Junie & husband, Buddy Kirk; Martha Holstein; Linzie & wife, Janet Baire; Bawfurd Baire; Bob Baire; William & wife, Donna Baire; Joyce & husband, Danny Pauley; Hazel Pauley; Mary & husband, Barney Johnson; Adam Baire; Siblings: Bertamae White, Henry Selbe and Grace Wilson; 17 Grandchildren; 22 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter.

Derrick Neil McCallister

Derrick Neil McCallister, 20, of St. Albans died Saturday in Charleston of accidental death.

He had recently returned from Iraq where he served in the Striker Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division.

He is survived by his Father &step mother: Arlon L. &Elizabeth McCallister Mother: Debra Shultz Brothers: J. J. Harper, R. J. Hughes , E. J. Huffman, Frogger Neal and T. J. Gravely; and many close friends.

Gracie E. Goode McClure, 87, of Sod, W V passed away peacefully Friday, October 8, 2004 in her sleep at Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center, Dunbar, W V after a long illness.

She was a housewife and a member of the Fairview Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Okey McClure, who died in 1990.
The family thanks the kind staff and nurses at Banbridge Rehabilitation Center of Dunbar for the kind and loving care of their Mother.

She is survived by: 5 Children: Kennith Paul McClure of Bitely, MI; Judy Williams of Centerlia, WV; Betty Runyan of Sod, WV; Eddie McClure of Adrian, MI; Golda Sowards of Hurricane, WV; Sister: Goldie Smith of Sod, WV; Brothers: Walter Goode of Yorktown, VA; George Goode of St. Albans, WV; 17 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren 15; Great Great Grandchildren; Several nieces & nephews.

Harley C. Hudson

Harley C. Hudson 71, of So. Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday Oct. 6, 2004 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Harley was a retired self-employed construction worker, he loved to hunt, golf, bowl and go four-wheeling. Harley was a army veteran of the Korean War and was preceded in death by his parents Raymond (RA) and Elsie Hudson and brothers Earl, Dallas and Glenith.

He is survived by his wife Patricia and sister Helen Lude of So. Charleston.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with the Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, So. Charleston.
