Gary Dale Casto, Sr., 66, of Alum Creek, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at CAMC Memorial Division after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his son: Gary D. Casto, Jr.; mother: Nellie Casto; grandson: Gary Bruce McDaniel.

He was owner and operator of Casto Dental Lab in Alum Creek.

He is survived by his wife: Dottie Lett Casto; two daughters: Terri Holcomb and Lori McDaniel, both of Alum Creek; father: Sattes Casto of Alum Creek; one sister: Connie Casto of Alum Creek; five grandchildren: David, Lydia, Sarah, James, and Sami.

Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Martin Hallett officiating.  Burial will be at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.  Friends may call Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Lowell Dunlap

Lowell Dunlap, 89, of Mesa, Arizona passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Banner Hospice House of Mesa, Arizona after a long illness.

Lowell is survived by his wife of 44 years: Ruth Elswick Dunlap; daughter: Melissa Alexander of Tucson, AZ; brothers: Carlos and wife, Polly of Mesa, AZ; Henson and wife, Hope, of Crab Orchard, WV; Ohley and wife , Louise of South Charleston, WV; Carl and wife, Patty, of St. Albans, WV; Jack and wife, Joann of Dunbar, WV; sister-in-law: Leota Dunlap; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Mable McCormick, Barberine Walker, and Eldora Dunlap; brothers: Billy Gene, Charles Willis, and Howell, all of Lincoln County.

Pallbearers will be: Mark Dunlap, Brad Dunlap, David Dunlap, Timothy Dunlap, Larry Edwards, Randy Moore, Denzil Elkins, and Alex Rouch.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday January 21, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Bryan Headly officiating.  Burial will be held at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Willaim E. “Bill” Barker

Willaim E. “Bill” Barker, 49, of South Charleston died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at home.

He was an employee of Kanawha County Schools with fifteen years of service.  He was a graduate of East Bank High School.

He is survived by his son: Brandon M. Barker of South Carolina; two sisters: Becky Williams of Dawes and Deanna Samms of Pittsburgh, PA; one brothers: Stever Barker of Pinch.

Service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 19 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.  Burial will be in Barker Cemetery, Ashford.  Friends may call Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Anna Grace Nunn

Anna Grace Nunn, 78, of Sod died Friday, January 14, 2005 at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Stone and May Tackett Nunn; four brothers: Tom, Don, Lindsey, and Billy Nunn; two sisters: Doris Maynard and Nellie Mannon.

She was a member of Council Gap Church of Christ.

She is survived by two brothers: Dale Nunn of Griffithsville and Orville Nunn of Sod; one sister: Nina Turley of Alum Creek.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday, January 17, 2005 at 100 AM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Minister Bill Edwards officiating.  Burial will be in Watts Cemetery, Sod.  Friends may call one hour prior to service.

Crever Lewis Saul

Crever Lewis Saul, 87, lifelong resident of Yawkey, WV, passed away on January 10, 2005 at Marmet Health Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Humphrey Saul and their only child, Bobby Eldon Saul.

Crever was born the son of Everett and Liza Kingrey Saul on October 12, 1917.  Shortly after Graduation from Duval High School he was employed as a pipe-fitter at Dupont’s Bell plant.  Later he left to form Saul Construction, Inc, which served the oil and gas industry of West Virginia for more than fifty years.

He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey, where he was Sunday School Superintendent for 39 years.  For over 50 years he was a member of Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 AF & AM and served on the Duval Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors.

In addition to his parents, wife, and son, he is preceded in death by his brothers Lester, Everett, and James, and sister Wilma Saul Swanson.

Crever was responsible for creating many cherished memories for his grandchildren, who include: Leah Saul Sowards and husband James; Scott Eldon Saul, both of Yawkey; Lesly Danielle Saul of Brunswick, GA; James “Jamie” Saul of Yawkey; Mialachi and Hannah Hawkins.  He is also survived by his sisters: Jean Saul Londeree; Clara Saul Hauldren and husband, Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Beech Grove Baptist Church in Yawkey, with Pastor Oshel Bell officiating.  Burial will follow at the Orchard Hills Memory Gardens in Yawkey with masonic graveside rites.

Friends may join the family in celebration of Crever’s homegoing from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Friday at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.  In lieu of flowers, the family request gifts be made to Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey, WV 25573, or Shepherd Spinal Center, 2020 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.

Other Delbert “Dale” Spears, 61, of Nellis, WV went to be with the Lord Friday, January 7, 2005 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne; mother, Nina; and father, Daner.

He was a member of the Rumble Community Baptist Church at Rumble, was a mason with the Odell Lodge 115 AF & AM at Madison, and was a retired miner from Omar Mining and Uneeda.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Evelyn Spears; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Kit Richardson of Ridgeview; Gail and Bobby Chelton of Hernshaw; one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Dawn Spears of South Charleston; two brothers, Oval Spears of Drawdy and Jerry Spears of GA; two sisters, Esta Mae Miller and Kathy Carroll, both of GA; five grandchildren, Anthony Hager, Tia Shelton, Leah Messer, Victoria Messer, and Issac Messer.

Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 10, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Richard Harold officiating.  Burial with masonic graveside rites will be in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.  Family and friends will gather from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.

Louise E. Chandler

Louise E. Chandler, 54, of Mud Lick Road, Alum Creek, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at home surrounded by family and friends.

She will be greatly missed and was loved by everyone.  She was a member of the Praise Assembly of God, Alum Creek.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Kelly; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and William Osborne of Midway, WV; three sisters, Fay Newhouse of Elkview, Verna May Gibson of Charleston, Janice Causey of Big Chimney; three brothers, Henery Jerrell of Walton, Dennis Copen of Amma, Cecil Copen of Tennessee; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley Willams of Alum Creek, Bernard and Sandra Harper of South Charleston, Leonard and Charlotte GAllegos of Farmington, NM, Debbie and Johnny Chandler of Alum Creek; grandchildren, Kelly Lee Chandler, Tiffany and Robert Osborne.

Services will be 2 PM Saturday, January 8, 2005, at the Praise Asembly of God with Pastor Dan McCormick and Assistant PAstor Danny Joe McCormick officiating.  Burial will be held in Chandler Family Cemetery, Alum Creek.

Peggy L. Fultz

Peggy L. Fultz, 57, of South Charleston went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 3, 2005 at home after an extended illness.

Peg’s walk with the Lord impacted the lives of many.  Her life reflected His grace.  She was a loving mother, a faithful friend, and is greatly missed.

She attended the Charleston Mountain Mission Church and was director of Volunteer Services at CAMC.  She was preceded in death by her father, Parker Price.

Peggy is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-laws, Jamie Fultz and wife, Michele of Charlotte, North Carolina; Steven Fultz and wife, Leah of South Charleston; mother, Mary Price of South Charleston; two sisters, Betty Tugwell and Reta Pauley, both of South Charleston.

Graveside service and burial will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2005 at Graceland Memorial Park in South Charleston with Pastors Fairley McCormick and Tom Price officiating.  Family and friends will gather from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.  In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Ave. Dunbar, WV 25064-3199.

Viola Dean Hill

Viola Dean Hill, 102, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Banbridge of Dunbar after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hill, two daughters, Vola Deel and Eris Lawson.

Viola was a member of the Ruth Community Church and was a Kanawha County schoolteacher at Ruth.

She is survived by her, two sons, Lewis “Bus” Hill and Paul Hill both of South Charleston; half-sister, Ann Hess of Spencer; l l grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 1, 2005 at the Ruth Community Church South Charleston with Pastors Robert Harless and Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Memorial Park South Charleston. Family and friends will gather two hours prior to service at the Ruth Community Church. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph W. Kordusky

Joseph W. Kordusky, Jr. 64, of Elkview, W V formerly of Middlesex, NJ went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at CAMC Memorial after a short illness.

He was an employee at Motel Six in Charleston and attended Esta Memorial Baptist Church of Witcher Creek and Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Sod.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Pat; three sons, Joseph and wife, Cindy; Michael and wife, Eva; Edward and wife, Pam; four grandsons, Michael, Matthew, Benjamin and Patrick; three brothers, Ronald, Thomas and John.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dans, Dr. Goad, Dr. Grey and the staff on 3 South at CAMC Memorial division.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 1, 2005 at Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church Sod, with Pastor Randal Wilson officiating. Burial will be at the Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek. Family and friends will gather from 7 to 9 PM Friday at the Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
