Opal Gillespie Dotson, 81 of Charleston, formerly of Alum Creek, died Sunday, May 27, 2001 at home after a long illness.

She was a homemaker and attended the Alum Creek Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her: 2 Daughters: Kay McClung of Alum Creek; Carolyn Pauley of Charleston; 1 Son Lloyd Myers of South Charleston; 6 Grandchildren: Leslie Myers, Laura Stover, Melissa Belcher, Brad Pauley, Erin McClung, Kristi Myers; 7 Great-grandchildren; Caregiver: Connie Smith.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at 2 PM with Pastor Charles LaRue officiating. Burial will be held in Forks of Coal Memorial Park, Alum Creek. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 29, 2001 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Jimmie E. Mosteller, 57, of Sod, died Thursday, May 24, 2001 in Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a short illness.

He was an employee of Mountain Edge Mining, a member of the UMWA, Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department where he was assistant chief, first responder and on the scuba search and rescue team. He was a former member of the Westside Volunteer Fire Department, a driver for the Duval Ambulance Authority, past president of the Garretts Bend Community Center and member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.

He is survived by his: Wife: Sandy; 1 Son: Keith of Mesa, AZ; 1 Daughter: Keta Harper of Alum Creek, WV; 2 Grandchildren: Nicholas and Danielle Harper 3 Brothers: Donald “DUCK”, Billy and Mike all of Garretts Bend, WV.

Graveside service and burial will be held in Mosteller-Yoder cemetery, Tornado on Sunday, May 27, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard McCallister officiating. There will be no visitation. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a fire department, church or charity of your choice. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of arrangements.

Opal Escue McClure Pauley, 93 of Tango, has gone to be with the Lord. Opal passed away at her home after a long illness on Friday, May 18, 2001.

Opal was born June 18, 1907 at Tornado, Kanawha county, West Virginia and was one of two daughters born of the late Hubert and Dora Escue who moved from Kanawha county to Lincoln county back in 1909. Opal was a faithful Christian and the oldest living member of Joe’s Creek Baptist Church. Also, Opal was a retired school teacher with 51 years of service with the Lincoln county school system. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Foster McClure and her sister Alice Morrell.

She is survived by her: Husband: Robert A. Pauley, Sr. 1 Niece: Madora Goode of Sugar Tree, WV; 1 Great Niece: Carolyn Shirley of Springfield, OH; 1 Great Nephew: Johnny Goode of Goose Creek, SC; 1 Great Great Niece: Heather Shirley of Springfield, OH: 1 Great Great Nephew: Brandon Shirley of Springfield, OH.

Services will be held at Joe’s Creek Baptist Church on Monday, May 21, 2001 at 2 PM with Pastor Carl Lester Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call on Sunday, May 20, 2001 from 6 to 8 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

She was a retired medical customer service representative.

Ladonna Sue Wagoner Smith, 62, of Poca, formerly of Sod, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at home of breast cancer.

She was preceded in death by her late husbands: Alton R. Wagoner and Hillard E. Smith, her parents: Allen C. Smith and Dora A. Young Smith, sisters: Phyllis A. Davis and Emalene Wooten. She is a member of Naomi Primitive Baptist Church, Charleston. She worked many years as a hairdresser and as a Home Health Aide.

She leaves behind: 2 Daughters and Sons-in-law: Tanu-a L. and Gordon S. Monroe of Vienna, WV; Sherri D. and Kevin P. Barry of Charlestown, WV; 7 Grandchildren: Derrick Wagoner, Colin, Brendan, Liam and Kayleigh Ladonna Barry, Ashlee and Autumn Monroe; 4 Sisters: Betty Honaker of Culloden, WV; Wanda Dunlap of St. Albans, WV; Lois Connery of Hurricane, WV; Judy Hale of South Charleston, WV; 1 Brother: Charles Smith of Hurricane, WV; Many friends and family.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Elder Monroe Hammon and Elder Ronald Sargent officiating. Burial will be in Lively Cemetery, Sod. Friends may call 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.

He was a member of McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his: 2 Brothers: Seaward and Vance.

Ralph T. Pauley, 71 of Sod, died Thursday, May 3, 2001 at home after a long illness.

He was a member and former president of Painters Local #970 with 37 years, a member and former trustee of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod, a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 and was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Pauley.

He is survived by his: Wife of 45 years: Marsha; 2 Daughters and Son-in-law: Elynn Wood of Denver, CO; Jill and Dana Snyder of Griffithsville, WV; 3 Sons and Daughter-in-law: Christopher Ralph, Joey Dell and Orla, James Scott all of Sod, WV; 5 Grandchildren: Luke Wood, Suzanne Blount, Jett Pauley, Colton Snyder, Annie Grace Pauley 3 Sisters: Vivian Pauley and June Dunlap both of Teays Valley, WV; Margurite Adams of Sod, WV; 1 Brother: Lyle Pauley of Salem, VA; Loving Caregiver: Jean Dillon.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Alum Creek Church of Christ.
