Kimberly Pardue Adkins Plumley

Kimberly Pardue Adkins Plumley, 40, of Hamlin, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident at Sumerco on Saturday.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cline A. Adkins.

Kimberly was a 22 year employee of the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, a 1985 graduate of Hamlin High School, and a longtime volunteer with Hamlin Youth Majorettes.  She currently was a member of the support staff for the Lincoln County Boys Basketball Program.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney

2 daughters: Heather and Hillary Adkins

2 step-children: Jarrett and Josie Plumley

Mother: Mary Lou Pardue

Sister: Carrie Pardue

a host of other family and friends who will greatly miss Kimberly.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Dave Callison officiating.  Burial will be held in Lincoln Memorial Park, Hamlin.  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City National Bank, c/o Rodney Plumley for the Kimberly Plumley Memorial Fund on behalf of her two daughters.

Rose Colleen Meadows

Colleen Meadows, 55, of Alkol, loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on  Wednesday, September 17, 2008.

She was an employee of H&R Block in Hamlin for 20 years and also worked at Precision Machinery.  She was a faithful member of Sycamore Grove Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Alkol.

She is survived by:

Husband: Michael E. Meadows

Daughter: April D. Roberts of Alkol

Son: Jonathan M. Meadows of Alkol

Brother: David Tudor of Joes Creek

Sister: Nancy Harless of Tango

Two Grandsons: Joshua W. Roberts and Jared M. Roberts of Alkol.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek,  with Pastors Dwight McClure and Robert Adkins officiating.  Burial will be in Meadows Family Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 on Friday at the funeral home.

Delmar E. Lude

Delmar E. Lude, 82, of South Charleston passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after fighting a long illness.

He was retired from Libbey Owens Ford with 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen A. Lude; four children, Delbert L. Lude and wife, Niece of South Charleston, Joseph W. Lude and wife, Donna of South Charleston, Jeanie D. Hudnall and husband, Roscoe of Houston, Texas, and Connie F. Brogan and husband, Timothy W. of South Charleston; seven grandchildren, Joseph Lude, Paul Allen Lude, Donavan Lude, Shawn Brogan, Rachel Keeling, Brandon Hudnall and Travis Hudnall; 12 great grandchildren.

We will all greatly miss our beloved husband and father, whom we dearly love.  He has been by our side throughout our lives with all the love, understanding and dedication that a husband and father could give.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Benny Pauley officiating.  Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Friends and family may gather from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Isabelle C. Gillispie, 80, of Alum Creek died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at home after a long illness.

She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 4768 Alum Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold J. Gillispie.

Linda Kay Davis

On September 3, 2008, God sent his angels to take Linda Kay Davis, 63, of Garretts Bend, to her heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jack, and her son Randy.

She attended Elizabeth Baptist Church.  Throughout her life, Kay unselfishly gave to her family, friends, and community and she was well-respected and loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Ronda L. Pereira and her husband, Mitchell of Midlothian, Virginia; son, Jack R. Davis, II of Midlothian, Virginia, who is a member of the Military Service; daughter, Tammy J. Hawkins and her husband, Efrem of Corona, California; six grandchildren, Anthony A., Jonathan M., and Mitchell A. Pereira II, Jared S.R., Derrick J.R., and Samantha I. Hawkins.

It would be impossible to list all of her family and friends that will miss her deeply because she was a friend and was loved by everyone who met her.

The memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Paul Cemetery, Garretts Bend, where we will be sharing our happy memories of her.

Theodore Wayne (Teddy) Gravely, Sr., 44, of Cross Lanes passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George & Nellie Gravely & brother, Bill A. Gravely.

Teddy was an all around handy-man and loved the outdoors, sports, especially hunting & fishing.

Vada Jean Snyder

Vada Jean Snyder, 85, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 28, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital Charleston after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde William Snyder, son Larry Lane Snyder, two sisters,  three brothers and her parents.

She is survived by:

2 Sons: Jerry Wayne “Spaceman” Songer and Clyde Ervin “Snooks” Snyder;

4 Grandchildren: Jason Snyder, Misty Dotson, Jeanie Dunlap and Jennifer Snyder;

1 Step Grand-daughter: Tammy Pauley

1 Special Step Grandson: Dustin Pauley

6 Great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren

2 Sisters: Maryland Moore and Phyllis Thomason;

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 30, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Basil Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park So. Charleston. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jean enjoyed gardening and myrtle picking. She also enjoyed hunting greens with neighbor Edith Stover. She especially loved cooking for her family and loved family gatherings. Sitting on the porch sharing her love of nature with all those that would gather round was her most cherished moments. Jean was a kind generous person, she always gave food and clothing to those in need. Her house was open to all, she never turned anyone away. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Brenda Joyce Justice Huffman, 65, of Alkol was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2008 after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her father Alvis Justice Sr., mother & stepfather Violet & Leck Huffman, brother, Frank Justice, sister Irma Nelson and grand-daughter Jessica Joyce Huffman.

She is survived by her husband: Jackson Huffman

3 sons and their wives; Mark & Kim, Craig & Delphia and Brian & Cora; all of Alkol

7 grand children; Joshua Kenneth, Zachary Scott, Heather Justice, Matthew Tyler, Jeremy Lee, Timothy Ray and Anna Mae

Brenda was dearly loved and will be greatly missed , until we meet again.

Leroy Franklin Rowley

He was a retired construction worker and a WW ll Navy Veteran.

Services will be  8:00 PM on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Curry Funeral Home,  2097 Childress  Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Dennis Wyer officiating.  Burial will be on Tuesday at the Hensley Family Cemetery in Sod.  Friends will gather 1 hour prior to the service on Monday Evening at the funeral home.
