Frances Lee Adkins Hudson White, 65, of Yawkey passed at home Monday, July 13, 2015.

Frances worked at Inter Forrest Corp. Veneer Plant in Hopewell, PA.

She was preceded in death by parents, Charles Adkins and Jewell Vann; brothers, Junior and Raven Adkins; sister, Ellie Mays and stepson, Wesley.

Frances is survived by sons, James W. Adkins (Lisa Huffman) and Buster Adkins; daughters, Vickie Lynn Woolley (Chris) and Normal Hudson (Howard Ammon); stepchildren, Dale, Jenny, Missy, Dinky and Dumpy; brother, Samuel Wayne Adkins; sisters, Mona and Missy Adkins; stepmother who raised Frances, Anna May Adkins McCallister; special granddaughter, Shayla Gibson, who helped care for her; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastors Rexal Cooper and K. D. Bragg officiating.  Burial will follow at Dogbone Cemetery in Alkol.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for the funeral service.

Kelly Dean Tyler 70 of Brounland, went home to the Lord Sunday, July 12, 2015 at CAMC Memorial after a short illness.

He was retired from Economy Tank Lines St. Albans and recently became a born again Christian.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years Betty, sons, Kelly (Mary)  and Gary; daughters, Lisa (Brad) Hall and Kathy (Jamie) May; brothers, Hassel and Elmer; sisters,  Opal Collins, Jane Hitchcock, Reba Gibson and Evelyn Dunlap; step-sisters: Margie Mae Holstein and Wilma Lee Tyler; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren

He will also be missed by Betty’s side of the family.

Graveside service  will be 11:30 AM Wednesday July 15^th at the Holstein Cemetery Dartmont with Rev. Michael Gibson officiating.  Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek.

Elec Zander Baire, 82, of Brounland died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at home after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Holbert and Grace Baire, and siblings, Oather, Hilliard, Lucille, Margaret and Madge.

He was retired from the City of South Charleston and was a Christian and attended Olcott Community Church.

He is survived by his wife by his wife of 53 years, Janet; daughters: Deborah Baire (Leroy) Morgan, Lisa Kay (David) Belcher; son, David (Julie) Holstein; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Travis) Myers, Cheryl (Nick) Belcher; Brittney (Travis) Morgan and Hollie (Josh) Belcher; and six great-grandchildren: Enola, Jeremey, Maverick, Chase, Melina and Grant.

Service will be 2:00pm Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Stevie Cox and Bill Payne officiating.  Burial will follow at Brounland Cemetery.  Family and friends will gather from 6:00 – 8:00pm Tuesday, July 14^th at the funeral home.

Harley Darrell Chapman, 72, of Alkol passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at home.

He retired from the Florida Department of Health; he was a veteran of the U. S. Army; a  1961 graduate of Duval High School and a member of Sycamore Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Harley is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary; daughter, Darlene Chapman; sisters, Anna Chapman, Maria Yoder and Angie Chapman; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Darrell Searls and Johnny Vickers officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

James Alvin Sigmon, 54, of South Charleston passed away at home on Monday, July 6, 2015 after a short illness.

He was an employee of the City of Charleston Public Works Department.  He served in the U. S. Navy.  James was on the Unit Comission for the Boy Scouts of America and  served as a troop leader for Troop 13 at Alum Creek and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife, Monica; son, David Sigmon; stepdaughter, Suzanna Ruth; brothers, Bobby, Eddie and Jack; sisters, Violet, Mary, Patty, Cindy and Ada; mother-in-law, Jewel Asbury; and 2 grandsons.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight McClure officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Randall Scott Hughes, 54, of Sod passed from this life Sunday, July 5, 2015 at home after a short illness.

He was a member of the Painters Local 970.

Randall was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Wayne Hughes and father, Jim Hughes.

He is survived by his mother, Naomi Hughes; sons, Craig Hughes (Jessie), Randall Jim Hughes and Wyatt Ball; grandchildren, Hayle Rae Hughes and Catelyn and Caleb Hughes; brother, James Eugene (Pam) Hughes; and sisters, Karen (Justin) Dunlap and Connie (Mike) Graley.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Sumerco with Pastor Butch Brogan officiating.

Rudy D. Pauley, Sr., 83, of Sod, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 , after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Dessie Pauley and brother, Roland Pauley.

Rudy and his wife, Virginia, owned and operated BRIT Tire Company in Charleston for many years. He was a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge for 60 years; an Army veteran and member of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia; sons, Rudy Dale, Jr., and wife, Beverly of Alum Creek and Richard and wife, Yvonne of Sod; and granddaughter, Sarah Pauley of Alum Creek. He is also survived by his sister, Kay (Duke) Belcher of Alachua, Fl.; brothers, Asa Pauley of Alum Creek and Royce (Janet) Pauley of Florida.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor Oshel Bell will be held 12 noon Tuesday, July 7, 2015 Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey with Masonic Graveside Rites.

Lorena “Kay” Gillispie, 81 of Dunbar died peacefully at home Friday, July 3, 2015 after  a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Johnny and Maggie Wickline;  husband, Charles H. Gillispie;  companion, Paul Pauley; Daughter, Lisa Gillispie;  sons, Robert Larry Baxter and Charles Faron Gillispie; brothers, Harry, Paul, Worthy, Harold, Ralph, James and Edwin Wickline; and sister, Lena Hackney.

Kay was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and she was retired from the Kmart located at Patrick Street.

She is survived by her daughters,  Anna Spencer and Teresa Barnhart;  son, Nathan Gillispie; brother, Granville “JR” Wickline;  8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Monday, July 6, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Rev. Eldon Fitzwater officiating.  Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum in South Charleston.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1pm prior to the service.

Roger K. Whitten, 68, of Woodville, went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2015, with his precious son Joey and his loving mother Hazel holding his hands.  Roger is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Loretta, his father Kenneth, his brother Barry, his sister Sharon Baisden, his nephew Kenny, and an infant brother.

Left to mourn his loss are his son Joey (Courtney) Whitten of Alkol; his precious grandchildren Weston, Cierra, Maddy Jo and Mason; his mother Hazel Whitten of Woodville, brothers Donald (Charlotte) Whitten and Ronald (Katherine)Whitten of Griffithsville; and sister-in-law Chiquita Whitten of Woodville.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and church family.

Roger was co-owner of Whitten’s Feed and Seed and was a member of Sycamore Grove Baptist Church and was a member of the Alkol Lions Club for years and a 1966 graduate of Duval High School.

A special thanks to Sycamore Grove, Woodville, and Spurlocksville churches; CAMC, St. Mary’s, and Hillcrest Rehab for their special care, and for the prayers from all the Christian families.  Roger always loved to be around people and kept a smile on his face.  He will be missed by many.

Services will be officiated by K.D. Bragg, Oshel Bell and Darrell Searls.  Friends may visit on Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with funeral services on Wednesday, July 1st at 2:00pm at Curry Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Broughton, Mickey Elkins, Wade and Michael Whitten, Carson McComas and Weston Meadows.

David E. Roberts, 67, of Dandridge, TN formerly of Griffithsville, born November 6, 1947 passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 13, 2015 at home.

He served in the U. S. Navy.  He began working at Dupont in Richmond, Va,  and also worked at Union Carbide in Institute, Suttle Motors in New Port News, Va., and Cabinet Works, LLC in Jefferson City, TN.

David loved Tennessee football, but followed the WVU Mountaineers.  He also enjoyed NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Billy) and Velma Runyan Roberts.

He  is survived by his son, Patrick Roberts of South Charleston; brother, William (Brenda) Roberts of Hurricane; sister, Carolyn McMellon of Alum Creek; uncle, Jack (Twila) Runyan; aunt, Margie Lipscomb; and many other relatives and friends here and also in Tennessee and will be dearly missed by all.

A memorial will be held 7:00 p.m.  Monday,  June 29th, at Independent Missionary Baptist Church, 2309 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Per his request, David was cremated and his ashes were spread over Douglas Lake in Tennessee.
