ELMO MCCLURE, 77, OF ALKOL, DIED FRIDAY, JANUARY 8, 1993 AT THOMAS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS.

HE WAS A RETIRED FORK LIFT OPERATOR AT KROGER CO. WAREHOUSE IN KANAWHA CITY WITH 28 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE WAS A MEMBER OF SYCAMORE GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH WHERE HE SERVED AS CHOIR DIRECTOR FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HE WAS A FORMER MEMBER OF ALKOL LIONS CLUB AND A MEMBER OF TEAMSTERS UNION, LOCAL 175. HE AS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF LINCOLN COUNTY.

HE IS SURVIVED BY: HIS WIFE, VIRGINIA; 3 DAUGHTERS: GLORIA JEAN HILL OF OCALA, FLORIDA; BETTY KRAMLICH OF MILFORD, DELAWARE; SUZANN HALL OF YAWKEY, WV; 3 SONS: JACKIE MCCLURE OF SUISUN CITY, CA; CLARENCE MCCLURE, JR. GEORGE SIEGFRED ARMSTRONG, 77 OF SO. CHARLESTON DIED SATURDAY, JANUARY 2, 1992 AT THOMAS MEMORIAL HOSP. IN SO CHAS., AFTER A LONG ILLNESS.

HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE WHEELING HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATING CLASS OF 1939, HE GRADUATED FROM WVU WITH A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN JOURNALISM AND RECEIVED HIS MASTERS DEGREE IN JOURNALISM FROM MARSHALL UNIVERSITY. HE LATER WORKED AS A WRITER AND ANNOUNCER FOR WLOG RADIO IN LOGAN AND WJLS RADIO IN BECKLEY, AFTER WHICH HE WORKED AT THE RALIEGH REGISTER IN BECKLEY AND THE FAYETTE TRIBUNE IN OAK HILL. HE WAS A PUBLIC RELATIONS REP. FOR UNION CARBIDE AT ALLOY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HE SERVED AS LONG TERM CITY EDITOR FOR THE CHARLESTON DAILY MAIL WHICH AFTER RETIREMENT HE CONTINUED TO SERVE AS MUSIC CRITIC FOR THE MAIL. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE PROFESSIONAL JOURNALIST FATERNITY, HE WAS ACTIVE AS A LITERACY VOLUNTEER IN THE KANAWHA VALLEY AND IN 1992 RECEIVED FROM GOVERNOR CAPERTON THE OUTSTANDING WEST VIRGINIAN AWARD.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE; ALMA 2 SONS; WILLIAM FERRELL ARMSTRONG OF BALTIMORE, MD GEORGE C. ARMSTRONG OF RIPLEY, WV 2 DAUS; CINDY CLENDENIN OF SISSONVILLE BEATRICE DOTSON OF SO CHAS. 7 GRANDCHILDREN AND 4 STEP GREAT GRAND CHILDREN

Erma Lee Williams Tackett

Erma Lee Williams Tackett, 54, of Sod passed away Tuesday, November 12, 1991, at home.

Erma was a member of Alum Creek Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Sod.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Everett.

Erma is survived by her husband, Teddy Tackett; daughter, Pamela (Joey) Dunlap; Teddy Jr. (Cheryl) of Belpre, OH; brother, Earl Williams of Huntington; sister, Betty Allen of Sod; grandchildren, Benjamin and Carissa Smith.

Services will be 2:00pm, Friday, November 15, 1991, at the Alum Creek Church of Christ. Friends and family will gather 1-4pm & 6-9pm, Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Hayzlett Cemetery, Sod.
