Mearl M. McCallister, 82 of Sod, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness.

She was a homemaker, member of the McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.

She is survived by her: 5 Daughters: Carol Blackburn Dooley of Charleston; Diana Chandler of Alum Creek; Linda Settle and Jewell McClure both of Yawkey; Kathy Judge of Alum Creek; 2 Sons: Roger McCallister of Sissonville; David McCallister of Sod; 1 Sister: Pearl Pauley of Sod; 1 Brother: Charles Kidd of South Charleston; Caregiver: Genevieve Redman; 12 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at McCorkle Free Will Baptist Church on Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 11:00 AM with Meddie Ray Dunlap, Pastor Roe Smith and Pastor Oshel Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, McCorkle. Friends may call on Friday, January 25, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her: Husband: Danny Smith; 2 Sons: Danny Richazd Smith, Jr. at home; Golden Wayne Smith at home; 1 Daughter: Crystal Dawn Smith at home; Father: Wayne Henderson of Long Beach, MS.

He was a retired mechanic for Rish Equipment Co., St. Albans with 40 plus years of service.

He is survived by his: Wife: Irene, 2 Sons: Ed Jr. of St. Albans; Mike of Calhoun, GA; 2 Sisters: Phyllis Rucker of Elkview; Glenna “Cookie” Muthard of Tip City, OH; 3 Brothers: Clark Blake of TX; Wesley Blake of Charleston; Jimmy Blake of AK; 4 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, January 19, 2002 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gene Pauley officiating. Interment will be held in Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum, South Charleston. Friends may call on Friday, January 18, 2002 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

She was retired from Kaufman Jewelry and Haddads of South Charleston.

She is also survived by her Sister: Clauda Bailey of Winston Salem, NC; 3 Grandchildren.

Services will be 3:00 PM on Monday, December 31, 2001 at Cunningham Memorial Park, Lower Mausoleum Chapel, St. Albans, with Pastor William R. Pack officiating. Burial will be in the park. Leah Michele Carrier, 32 of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas day.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Carrier.

She is survived by her: Mother: Shelby Carrier; 3 Sisters: Suzanne and husband, Bob Haynes of Scott Depot; Sherry Blake and fiance Donny Thomas of St. Albans; Lesley and husband, Frank McMillan of Charleston; 2 Nephews: Jamie Blake Casey McMillan 1 Niece: Rachael McMillan; Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her very much.

Private services for the extended family will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at 1:00 PM with Ralph Pauley officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

He worked as an electrical contractor on the Alaskan Pipeline in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

Randy Ford Linville

Randy Ford Linville, 43 of Parkersburg, formerly of Lincoln county died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at home from an apparent heart attack.

He was a self employed contractor, a member of the Unity Church of the Kanawha Valley and was preceded in death by his father, Henry Linville.

He is survived by his: Mother: Cannalee Ellen Midkiff of Hamlin Daughter: Terra Jones of Poca Son: Christopher of Dunbar Brother: Anthony of South Charleston 3 Sisters: Beverly Hager of Griffithsville Belinda House of Hamlin Charlotte Hutton of Uneeda; Grandson: Korey Jones.

Services will be 11:00 am on Thursday at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Rev. John Chandler officiating. The remains will be cremated and the family request flowers be omitted. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

David “Bear” Weddington

He was a truck driver for Younger Brothers Trucking, Houston, Texas.

Father: Emory Weddington of Alkol, WV Mother: Nora Saul of Sod, WV Sister: Gail Stamper of Sod, WV Brother: Larry Weddington of Alum Creek, WV Grandson: Jesse Cole Ryan of Alum Creek, WV.

He was a loving companion, father, son and brother and was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
