Glen Justice

March 22nd, 2018 | Posted by curryfuneralhome in Obituaries - (0 Comments)

Glen Justice – loving son, husband, brother, uncle, friend – peacefully departed this life on Wednesday,  March 21, 2018 at 6:05 p.m. at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston, WV, of end-stage heart and kidney disease.

His faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is now sight.  Glen was born February 11, 1933 to Clayton and Lyda Pauley Justice on Ivy Branch, Lincoln County, WV.  He continued to live with and care for his parents in Sod until their passing.  He met, courted and married his soulmate, Roma Glenn McKinney, on March 18, 1976.  They made their home on Cobbs Creek Road.  They enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower, and looked forward to the bounty of produce that they faithfully preserved every year.  They traveled a little, but mostly they just enjoyed passing time in one another’s presence.  They were active in and lifelong members of Vision of Harvest Baptist Church. They were best friends.

Glen retired from Laborers’ Union Local 1353, working on numerous general construction/road sites.  After his retirement, he and Roma continued to enjoy their quiet time together until her passing in June, 2007.

In addition to his parents and loving wife of 32 years, Glen is preceded in death by his brothers Arvil, Kyle “Dusty”, Kelva, Ernest, Eugene Justice, and sister, Janet Adams.

He is survived by Eloise and Delores Justice, and Alberta McKinney his sisters-in-law, and too many nieces and nephews to list here.  Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Billy Silva at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m., with visitation of family and friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Lively Cemetery, McCorkle Road.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the many wonderful friends and family members who have cared for him over the past 3 ½  years of his failing health:  from the bowls of soup, to the frequent surprise lawn mowers, to the faithful early morning paper and mail retrievals so he wouldn’t have to walk down his stairs and across the road.  The family would also like to thank his faithful pastor and friend, who has been with him over these past 2-½ weeks.

The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the doctors, nurses and FNPs who were daily bugged with phone calls and never made us feel like we were bugging them.  Your kindness was appreciated more than you know.  Finally, the family would like to thank those who supported us at Hospice.  This past week was made more bearable because of your kindness, compassion and empathy.  Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Glen’s memory to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston, WV 25387.

Helen Louise Peterson

Helen Louise Peterson  July 20, 1944 – March 4, 2018

Helen Louise Peterson, 73, of Weaverville, NC, (formerly of Yawkey, WV) decided to make her conversations with God more in person as she departed this world on Sunday, March 4, 2018.  Helen was born on July 20, 1944 in Ernest, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph & Mary Ann Mikeska Gallo.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Peterson and by her sisters, Joan Hargrove, Betty Ann Keller, and Patti DiMarco.  She is survived by her two sisters, Theresa Johnson and Marie Ray both of Indiana, PA, as well as three children, Robert, Joey and Ann Peterson, and her grandchildren, Kierra, Aramaya and Zyana Peterson, and Brandon and Brooklyn Woods.

Throughout her life Helen maintained a sweet and kind demeanor that endeared many people to her.  She showed love and compassion to everybody without prejudice.  She taught those around her, especially her children and grandchildren, to see people for who they are on the inside – and to love them.  She found great joy in her grandchildren, her love for animals, and her books.  She was an obsessive reader of self-help books, even up to her last days.  She never stopped trying to learn new ways to be a better person, and that’s what made her amazing.

In lieu of flowers, Helen would want you to instead spend time with your children, tell those that you care for how much you love them, and pet a doggie or kitty.  There will be no service.
