Carolyn Sue Allen

Carolyn Sue Allen, formerly Roberts/Lippincott, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2025.

She was a resident of Charleston, West Virginia for the last 5 years. Carolyn was born in Michigan on August 20, 1951.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa “Lisa” Beth Hall/Lippincott and by both of her parents, Bob Lee Roberts and Mable Ellen Roberts.

Carolyn was active in her church, Oakwood Baptist, and had many friends within her church family that loved her dearly.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lippincott, her granddaughter Kiah Lyn, grandson Christian Lyn and four great-grandsons.

A small memorial service will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to offset funeral costs to Curry Funeral Home, PO Box 9, Alum Creek, WV 25003.

Charles Randall “Charlie” Tiller, 64, of Charleston passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at home.

Charlie was a laborer and a United States Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Tiller; parents, James and Mary Tiller.

Charlie is survived by his son, Charlie, Jr; brothers, Jim Tiller of Texas and Paul (Stephanie) Tiller of South Charleston.

He will be cremated and there will be a service at a later date.

Pamela Sue Phillps

Pamela Sue Phillips, 61, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at home.

Pam was a licensed Barber & Beautician. She was in home caregiver for over 20 years. She loved to play piano and sing at church and enjoyed spending time at home on the mountain.

She was preceded in death by her father, Denzil Turley.

Pam is survived by her mother, Linda Turley; son, Jason Ray Phillips (Angelu Clutario); grandson, Isaac Ray Phillips; sister, Teresa (Scott) Argento; niece, Sarah Argento; nephew, Nathan Argento.

Graveside service will be 1:00pm, Friday November 7, 2025, at Cardinal Cemetery, 28 Cardinal Drive, Alum Creek, WV 25003, with Pastor Isaiah Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be from 12-12:30pm, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

Donna Jean Mooney

Donna Jean Mooney, 85, of Scott Depot went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

Donna was a 1958 graduate of Washington District High School and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. She retired from Kanawha County Schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Herbert and Flossie Harless; brother, Herbert “Chuck” Harless; sister, Joyce Turley.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Bill) McCarty of Hilton Head, SC and Melissa (Dave) Sovine of Scott Depot, WV; 4 grandchildren, Amie (Chris) Wetmore, Jennifer (Joey) Copley, Michael Ryder II, and Will (Annie Grace) McCarty; 5 great grandchildren, McKinley and Charlotte Wetmore, Emma and Logan Copley, and Aubrey Katherine McCarty; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 7:00pm, Friday, October 31, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home with Chaplain Pete Thompson officiating. Visitation will be two hours (5-7 PM) prior to the service. A private family burial will be held in the spring.

Ernie Ray Justice, Jr.

Ernie Ray Justice, Jr., 55, of South Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 27, 2025, at home.

Ernie was an equipment operator for 30 years and a natural mechanic who could fix anything and would for anybody. But mostly, Ernie was a family man who loved camping, boating, and spending time with the ones he loved. He was a great man, proud daddy, papaw, and friend. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernie Ray Justice, Sr.; brothers, Darrell Justice and Dewayne Justice.

Ernie is survived by his fiancé, Kellie Worstell; mother, Loleta Justice; children, Tyler (Addison) Justice and Kirsten Justice; stepson, Allen (Makayla) Tyler; grandchildren, Aydenn, Karter, Gunner, Zaylix, Alex, Laeken, Ace, and Tate; siblings, Mona Justice, Norma (Dewayne) Loveless, Teresa (Mark) Wilkerson, Melissa (Troy) Loftis, and Mark Justice; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his closest buddies, Scott Worstell, John “Bubby” Chandler, Doug Bowen and many more, including his work family.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastors Mark Wilkerson and Dewayne Loveless officiating. Burial will follow at Midkiff Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gretta Fay Roberts

Gretta Fay Roberts, 57, of Sumerco, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Gretta loved her family and enjoyed raising a garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Arizona Allen Woodrum; brother, Terry Woodrum.

Gretta is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gordon; son, Jay; granddaughter, who was her pride and joy, Tori; sisters, Anita (Gary) Yeager, Sherry (Kevin) White, Sandy (D.J.) Mallory; sister-in-law, Renee Woodrum; several nieces and nephews, other family, and many friends.

Funeral will be 1:00pm, Friday, October 31, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Joseph Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kathy Ann Armstrong

Kathy Ann Armstrong, 67, of South Charleston, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at CAMC-Memorial Division, Charleston, WV after a sudden illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Ella Hess.

She graduated from George Washington High School, WV State University, and the University of Charleston. She worked as a registered nurse at area hospitals, she was a former director of Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene Day Care and helped in the family business Hess Roofing Co., Inc for many years.

Kathy was a beloved member of Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed singing in the choir, Wednesday night Bible Study and her church family. She loved all her animals from turtles, cats, dogs and her beautiful horses that will greatly miss her.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimmie Armstrong (Diana), sisters, Connie (Lanny) Oxley, Lori Hatfield (Jan Barry) and Jennifer (Bill) Eads, and brother, Charlie (Vanessa) Hess, along with many nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene, with Pastors Rick Gardner and Chuck Britt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kathy made the selfless act to help others through organ donations (CORE) and would encourage others to consider doing the same.

The family would like to thank Connie for the loving care she provided Kathy over the last couple of years.

Robert Ray “Bob” Oxley, Sr., 89, of South Charleston passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at home.

Bob was a stone mason and enjoyed being outdoors, coon hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elsie Pauley Oxley; son, Robert Ray Oxley, Jr.; son, Michael Scott Pugh; great grandson, Jacob Moreno.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dottie Oxley; daughters, Barbara Moreno and Debra Elswick; son, Timothy Oxley, Sr.; brothers, Bill Oxley and Edward Oxley, Jr.; sisters, Diane Roberts and Regina Stewart; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Sharon Thomas.

Also, a special thanks to Joe Elswick.

Graveside service will be 2:30pm, Friday, October 31, 2025, at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston with Pastor Bill Oxley officiating.

Curtis Eugene Cobb

Curtis Eugene Cobb, 79, of Alum Creek went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Curtis was a mechanic at Joe Holland Chevrolet for many years and became a self-employed mechanic in his later years. He was an avid hunter and most important he was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Evelyn (McCallister) Cobb; parents, Ross Cobb and Zona Myrel (Moore) Cobb; brothers, Wilburn (Fats) Cobb and Gary Wade Cobb.

Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Remona Cobb; sons, Curtis Matthew Cobb of Alum Creek, Chris (Kristy) Cobb of Sod; daughter, Jessica (Justin) Bell of Bloomingdale, Ohio; brother, Ross (Sam) Cobb of Yawkey; sister, Dorothy Trimble of Hurricane; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 5:00pm, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Vannatter officiating.
