Hal S. Vickers, 98, of Alkol died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at CAMC Memorial Division after a long illness.

He was a retired well driller for Owens-Libby Owens Gas Co.. Prior to that he delivered the Gazette and Daily Mail in the Boone and Lincoln County areas and he was a Christian for 70 years and a member of Morrisvale Missonary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a former member of Sycamore Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 50 years, a choir director and a Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his:

Wife: Garnette Matthews Vickers; 1 Daughter: Kathleen Wadsworth ofPanaca, NV; 3 Sons: Harry Vickers of Peterstown, WV; Jack Vickers of Peterstown, WV; Kenneth L. Vickers of Alkol, WV; 2 Sisters: Arzella Hill of Charleston, W V; Alma Huffman of Alkol, W V; 8 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, on Saturday, November 20, 1999 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tony Pauley, Rev. Johnny Vickers, and James L. Wadsworth officiating. Burial will be held in Stone Cemetery, Alkol. Friends may call on Friday, November 19, 1999 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
