Shirley Elizabeth “Sis” Taylor Parsons

Shirley Elizabeth “Sis” Taylor Parsons, 66, of Charleston, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2003 at CAMC Memorial division after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born August 7, 1937, daughter to the late Woodrow and Veatrice Taylor of Davis Creek. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Eugene “Bug” Taylor.

Shirley was a retired cook from Kanawha County schools.

 

She is survived by her: Husband: H.L. “Joe Bob” Parsons; Daughter and son-in-law: Santa and Ed Bennett of Chazleston; Son: Bob Parsons of Charleston; Granddaughters: Beth Grass and husband, Dan of Cross Lanes; Sarah Leigh Daniel and husband, Matt of Drawdy; Great grandchildren: Billy Grass, Layne Daniel, Cassie Grass; Six sisters: Carol Gillispie, Barbara “Boodle” Dixon, Audrey Shrewsbury, Mary “Merce” Dolin, Marta “Tidd” Pauley, Anita “Dee Dee” Thomas; Brother: Woodrow “Woody” Taylor; Shirley is also survived by 76 nieces and nephews, many other family members and many good friends.

Services will be held at the Davis Creek Nazarene Church, 102 Nazarene Drive, on Thursday, November 6, 2003 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Frank Goff and Rev. Roger Vannoy officiating. Burial will be held in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 from 7 to 9 PM at the church. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of the arrangements.
