Hillard Hansford Baire, 76, of Brounland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, June 20, 2003. He left this live of pain and sorrow for a life of joy and comfort, met and greeted by loved ones who had gone on before him, including an infant son, Randall and an infant daughter, Debra.
He is survived by his Wife of 54 years, Elma, Son Michael of Brounland, Daughters, Brenda Meickles, Susan Atkins, and Sherry Blake all of So. Charleston, and Patricia Rice of Scott Depot. 12 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren, Brother Alex, Sisters Margaret Cash and Madge Zelenak also survived him.
Hillard was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768. He was saved in January 1991 and was a faithfully-attending member of Hopewell Baptist Church. There couldn’t have been anyone more dedicated to the cause of Christ. He left this world and a desire for all of his family members and friends to join him in Heaven. To be able to do that, one must accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior and accept His forgiveness, turning their life totally over to the Lord.
His favorite time of the year was Christmas Eve when all the family, at least 48, would gather in his home. He loved hearing the Christmas story being read, the family singing carols, and watching the delight as each opened their gifts and the huge amount of food that was brought. He loved having his family gathering anytime of the year. His delight in life was his family. The only one more important to him was Jesus.
Services will be 11:00 am Monday, June 23, 2003 at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek. Burial will be in Brounland Cemetery, Brounland. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm today at the funeral home.
