Walter E. Samples, 88 of South Charleston, died Friday, March 14, 2003 in Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston.

He was a life-long farmer, construction worker and a member of the Builders and Trade Union.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Samples; two daughters, Barbara Lucas and Faye Burgess; eight sons, Roger, Ed, Bill, June, Jack, Bud, Whitey, and Ken; Several great great grandchildren and grandchildren; caregiver, Ruth Burnside, sister, Gussie King; brother, Lanty Samples, many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Strange Creek Baptist Church, Braxton County, on Sunday, Match 16, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Benjamin Pauley officiating. Burial will be held in Strange Creek Cemetery, Strange Creek, Braxton County. Friends may call on Saturday from 7 to 9 PM at the Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek and on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, West Virginia 25311.
