Norris R. Keeling, 82, of Garretts Bend went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 12, 2004 surrounded by his family at Thomas Memorial Hospital So. Charleston after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Maxine Keeling by 16 months. He was a tender, loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.
Norris served in the US Anny during W WII and had retired from Appalachian Power Company after 38 years. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Garretts Bend where he was ordained as a deacon in 1962. Norris was also the choir director for more than 50 years, and served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee.

He is survived by: Son and daughter-in-law: Roger and Sandi Keeling of Scott Depot;2 Grandchildren: Erin Keeling of Streetsboro, Ohio Derek Keeling of New York, NY; One Sister: Clarice Pauley of Salem, Virginia; and a host of beloved friends and special family, especially Wanda Davis.

Norris has said many times that if he could live anywhere on earth he would still chose Garretts Bend. He loved the people there and called them the best neighbors anyone could have. Serving the Lord, singing and attending church was his life so we know now that he is in an even better place.

The family would like to Thank the Nurses and Doctors of Thomas Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, CCU and ICU for their compassionate care.

The Family will be receiving friends at Norris’s home Monday beginning at 5:00 PM.

Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home Alum Creek with Pastor Winford Curry and Pastor Jackie Miller officiating. Burial will beheld in the Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey. Friends may call from 6 to 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
