Eugene G. “Dutch” Hill

Eugene G. “Dutch” Hill, 85, of St Albans passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Thomas Memorial Hospital ICU.

He was an Army veteran of WWII, who was awarded the Purple Heart, and a charter member of Madison VFW Post 5578, where he served as Chaplin. He was a Baptist and had served as a Sunday School teacher and trustee. He was a member of the Tornado Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evi and Suda Hill; brothers, Orville and Glenn; sisters, Virginia Bower and Carma Lee Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Caudill Hill; two daughters and son-in-law, Eugena Karson, Elnorah and Johnny Rivers; two grandchildren, Kemmeth Rivers and Jonathan Karson and his wife, Tina Karson; two great grandchildren, Logan and Laken Karson; brother, Cecil Hill.

Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor Robert “Butch” Leadman officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans with military graveside rites provided by the Benny Padilla VFW Post 4768. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 PM and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
