Douglas R. Waldron , 59, of Sod, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 18, 2005 at home after a seven-month battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Waldron, of Alum Creek.

He was employed by Walker Machinery Company for 18 years, currently as the Used Parts Manager in Diamond. Doug was a member of the Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church, Alum Creek, and the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge 71 AF & AM. He was successfully elected as a Lincoln County Commissioner from 1996-2000 and was a trustee of the Lively Cemetery at Sod.

Doug not only was a devoted husband, and a wonderful father, but a loving trustworthy friend and companion. He is loved and will be sadly missed. We are all so proud of him for remaining brave and strong even during the toughest hours. And we have peace knowing that he is walking pain free among the angels.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Dorothy Waldron, his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jerry Sansom, and his precious 15 month old granddaughter, Jessica, all of Sod; mother, Doris Waldron; sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Stan McKean all of St. Albans, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Hubert Rabel of Sod.

Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Burial will be in the Lively Cemetery at Sod. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV.
