Raymond Hudson, 88, of South Charleston, has been given his abundant reward for his many years of obedience and service by going home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 8, 2007.  He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters, his daughter, Regina Gomer and her two infant children.  He was a member and faithful attendee of Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene for 49 years. Many people’s lives have been touched because of his calling from God to visit the sick, the elderly and the dying from his church and the community.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Lou Hudson; daughters, Neva Horne and husband Cecil of South Charleston and Myrna Gatrost and husband Gary of North Carolina; sisters, Barbara Parsons and husband Kelly of South Charleston and Juanita Williams of Marmet; grandchildren, Susan, John, Jamie, Jennifer, Bobby and Beth; great grandchildren, Hannah, Brandon and John.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Mervin C. Smith, Rev. Merlin E. Provance and Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Fox Hill Cemetery, South Charleston. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.  Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests, in honor of Raymond’s dedication and love of the Nazarene Campgrounds in Summersville, West Virginia, that donations be made to West Virginia Nazarene Camp/Quarter Bank Ministry and sent to: The West Virginia South District, 5515 Kentucky Street, South Charleston, WV 25309.
