Hazel Hughes

Hazel Mabel Hughes, 95, of Alum Creek, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019.  Hazel was born January 13, 1923 to the late John and Jane Parsons Schivelier.

She was a homemaker and member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Sumerco.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Denver Hughes, Sr., brother, William Schivelier, sisters, Ocie, Sophia Hensley, Pheobie Armstrong & Macel Roberts.

Hazel is survived by her sons, Denver (Donna), Jackie (Rita) & Arlen (Cheryl) Hughes, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1:00pm Monday, January 7, 2019, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating.   Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco.  Friends & family will gather one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Hospice House West for their wonderful care and assistance.

Hazel left a positive impact on me and our church family. She loved the Lord and was faithful to him. Her pew seat will will always have fond memories for us as we remember her smile and soft hand shakes. Until we meet in Heaven.

Denver, Jackie and Arlen I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom. I didn’t know her personally but I do know she raised three fine boys that became three very fine men. My heart breaks for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this trial you fade-in the coming days
