Jason Lee Runyon, 46, of Sod, WV, was born on October 9, 1972 and died suddenly Monday, November 26, 2018, from an accidental gunshot wound.
He was a 1991 graduate of Duval High School and later graduated from Wilson Technical Institute in Wilson, NC. Jason worked as a heavy equipment operator for Kanawha Stone and various other companies in WV and NC.
Jason enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially loved playing his guitar.
On March 31, 1996, he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized that day by his uncle Damon Dunlap and Pastor Roe Smith. Mistakes, problems, and difficulties followed, but he always knew that God loved him and was in control.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Lee and Lorraine Hornsby and William and Verna Runyon.
Left to cherish his memories and deeply mourn his death are his parents Louie and Connie Runyon, sister Jenny (Jeremy) Angel of Saint Paris, Ohio, son Eli Runyon of Sumerco, and baby Isaac, the son of his heart, girlfriend Mindy, two nephews, a niece, several aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends.
Those who knew Jason will always remember and laugh about his funny stories and tall tales.
A celebration of his life will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek. Burial will follow at Lively Cemetery, Sod. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service.
The family sends a special love and appreciation to Pastor Isaiah Hatfield and Minister Kim Matthews who will be officiating the service.
Our hearts are with all of the Runyon family! We share in the fond memories of Jason and weight of loosing him.
We really never know what’s waiting for us out there. A tragedy like this shows us the importance of being grateful each day for all that we’re blessed with. It truly feels as if life is but a vapor. I hadn’t gotten to talk with Jason for way too long of a time and what a lingering regret that will be. Blaze on my friend and shine as bright as you did during this life.
My heart breaks for you and your family. My prayer is for God to comfort and give you his sweet peace to help you to understand his plan . He loves you and he is always with you. We love you and are praying for you. Jenny , Billy sends you his love and prayers.
