Betty Jane Lacy, 86, of Pine Grove, WV, went home to the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018, with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her son Harse Lacy, her siblings Emma Pauley, Magdalene Barker, and Martha, Ellsworth, and Glen Gillispie. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Cline Lacy, her sister, Mae Dunlap, her children Vinell Lacy, Skip (Tammy) Lacy, Randall (Brenda) Lacy, Ashley (Debbie) Lacy, and Marlene (John) Solberg.
She is loved and missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends that have become family. To name a few, her grandchildren Chastity, Miranda, Preston, Nick, Chris, and Amanda, her great-grandchildren Emma and Collin, her niece Donna “Tootsie” Hill, and friend Teresa Fillinger, will carry her with them every day.
As a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wife, she lived her life selflessly. She began her life humbly in Fork Creek, in a small, one-room house shared with her siblings and beloved dog, Shep. She worked tirelessly for her family, overcoming even the most impossible tasks, building a house that everyone called home.
Her strength was unmatched, her conviction in her faith unwavering, and the love that she gave, truly remarkable. We can all find peace in our hearts knowing she will live forever in the light of God.
Per her wishes, there will be no service. She wanted us to remember her as she was, celebrate the life she had, and rejoice in knowing she is home.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4.
Betty was laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sumerco, WV,

My prayers are with you all. Betty was always very kind to me. my mom and i spent a lot of time at her house. My heart and deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Betty during this difficult time. I know the heartbreak and pain of losing a loved one in death so I wanted to take a moment to share an encouraging scripture that gives me much hope. 1 Corinthians 15:26 “And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.” When we lose someone in death our heavenly Father sees the pain we feel and he promises to very soon do away with this wicked enemy of ours once and for all. And then he promises the most beautiful hope, to bring back to life all our dear loved ones and to reunite them with us again! What a beautiful promise of comfort and hope and how we long for that truly special day so close at hand.
