Phyllis Jean Rife, 83, of Sumerco, was called home to our Lord on Monday, July 2, 2018, at CAMC-Memorial Division, after a brief illness.
Born September 8, 1934 to William & Gertie Keeling. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John S. Rife, Sr.; brothers, Clifford, Okey, Asa, Cecil, and Eugene; sisters, Mayme, Mae, Betty, Wynoka, Dessie and Norine.
Phyllis to all who knew her was a unique and caring individual, who with her quick wit and contagious laughter was a blessing to everyone. She married John S. Rife, Sr., in 1956 and raised three loving children. Phyllis devoted her entire life to her children and loved all her animals. She was retired owner & operator of Alum Creek Septic Service.
She is survived by her children, John Jr., (Selena), Angelea (Kevin), and Stephanie (Jay); grandchildren, Steven (Tabitha), Joshua, Desarae (Eric), Amanda (Cameron), Christina, Dillon, Anglea, Josh, and John Gage; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Lilliaunna, Avery and Reece; sister, Mary Wallace; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Minister Kim Matthews officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Final resting place will be French Cemetery, Davis Creek, WV.
I am so sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a good woman. I always enjoyed her visits to Ryan’s. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She WAS always so good to me as I was growing up ,she was my loving aunt , and I loved her very much . She always would come get me to sit with her and hold my hand ,My uncle John was my favorite, I would always love to go stay with them they were always there for me. No matter how far I am away from her , she was always in my heart ,you could not ask for a sweeter lady then My aunt Phyllis . I love you aunt Phyllis
