Thurmond Lenzy “Nunnie” Roberts Sr., 79, of Alum Creek, WV, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 as a result of an auto accident.
Nunnie was a retired coal miner; he loved camping, sitting on his porch swing watching as cars go by and selling his delicious corn.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anita; parents, Cecil and Grace; brothers, Kennith, Richard and Jerry; sister, Phyllis; and grandson, Crae Justice.
Nunnie is survived by his sons, Timmy, Steve and David Roberts; daughter, Teresa Swoope; companion of 17 years, Jane Ann Hill and her sons, Joey, Robbie and Timmy; brothers, Ralph, Sonny, Tommy and Kermit; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
I am very sorry for your loss, I remember seeing him in the corn patch and digging the basement under his house when I went to school with Steve, Again you are all in my prayers.

When I heard the news of Nunny I was at my mom’s house Dolores Hill called to give us the news. Is saddened my mom my dad and me. Nanny was mom’s nephew and my cousin. The best memories I have a Nunny was when he was running the game room we sit and talk about our family. We had a lot of fun at that room. I send my Love- prayers and thoughts to his kids -Janie

Nunnie was one of my favorite people loved going by when i lived up the road from him waving or stopping by to say “hi” when i moved him and janie were the only part i missed seeing everyday he will be missed by so many he touched alot of hearts for sure will think of him and miss him in pocohontas county sorry for such a sad loss god bless his family and many friends…love Bob Sue & Kim
I have so many fond memories of all of you, loved going to camp before it was ever a camp. With Nida, Nunny, Steve Timmy, Teresa, David and Richard. Love everyone of you. And miss the ones that are no longer with us.
