Eric Franklin Hughes, 41, of Charleston went home Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
He loved the car sales business working all over the Kanawha Valley area never meeting a stranger. Eric served in the Air Force. He also wrote poetry, loved music but most of all loved his family.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Garnith and Margaret Hughes of Eli Road, Sod.
Eric is survived by his children, Damian of Fairmont, Malia and Carter both of Alum Creek; mother, Susan Hughes (Jean Long) of Pt. Pleasant; father, Frankie Sexton of St. Albans; favorite aunt, Sharon (Jim) Oldaker of Alum Creek; brothers, Jeremy (Tabytha) of Wickliffe, OH and Christopher (Tiffany) of Nitro, WV; nieces Skyler, Jojo, Ahja and Emma; nephews, Aiden and Liam; several aunts and uncles, Rick, Teresa, Scott, Tammy and Rosie; and a host of friends and other family.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Orchard Hills Memory Garden, Yawkey.
Friends may gather one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the funeral home.
Saying goodbye to someone we love is heartbreaking. My deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Eric. May you find comfort in knowing that our heavenly Father knows the heartbreak of loss and is here for us as he promised at Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, And through the rivers, they will not flood over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame singe you.” Although death is the most heartbreaking experience we will ever face we are not left without hope. God promises to bring our loved ones back to life through a resurrection as he promised at, Isaiah 25:8 ” He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” How we long for that truly special day to embrace them again!
Our heart goes out to you at this time of pain and loss. I know that we don’t have the perfect words to express our condolences but know that we are here if you ever need anything. We will be praying for all of you and may our prayers help ease the pain that you are feeling… Eric was very special to us
