Vivian Pauley Bird, 99, of Garretts Bend, Lincoln County, entered into heavenly rest on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Putnam Center in Hurricane, WV with her family by her side. She was born on January 24, 1918 in Lincoln County to the late James “J.A.” and Betty Pauley. Vivian attended a one-room school in Joe’s Creek and later worked at the General Store in Ruthlawn during WWII. While raising her kids she worked as a cook in Lincoln County schools. Family and neighbors loved her cooking and spent many hours at her kitchen table. In her later years she resided beside her sister June in Teays Valley. Vivian stayed active visiting her sisters, spoiling her grandkids, babysitting and getting into adventures with her sister June. She enjoyed board games, Rook and crocheting. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
Vivian leaves behind many family members who will miss her dearly including daughter Joyce Beckett of Indiana and her children Julia Braun, Andy Beckett, Melanie Sanders and Adam Beckett; son Kenny (Linda) Bird and his children Angie Withrow, Jason Bird and April Bird Aldridge; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and special niece Kylene Dunlap Brown. She also leaves behind her Putnam Center family who took great care of her during her time there.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her Putnam Center family for the loving care they provided Vivian.
