Dear Denny,

I just opened your card, and was surprised to hear that your Dad had passed away. I know that I talked to him on the phone in the last month. I would have surely come to the funeral, if I had known of Mr. Arnett’s death. I loved growing up on Greenbrier Street, with not only all of the kids, but their parents, too, whom I grew to care about very much. I’ll be in touch. Love, Penny Rutherford Trowbridge Young

To the Family of Mr. Arnett please accept my deepest sympathy. Ralph was one of the most positive individuals I was ever around. When I attended St. Albans High I had the pleasure of being around Ralph at many of the Basketball Games. He was the type of person that lifted you up and set a great example of how to treat other people. I was the manager on the Basketball Team and we had parents night and I had forgotten to tell my mother to attend. Ralph escorted me across the floor and treated me like I was his child.. He would have done anything for kids and I can only imagine what a true joy it must have been to have him for a father or grandfather.

The St. Albans Community has lost one of its finest citizens and I am sure that your family will be comforted in knowing that he impacted everyone he came in contact with in such a positive way.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Arnett. He was a wonderful man that I had the pleasure of knowing from an early age. I had the pleasure of growing up with his grandsons (John and Mark). I also had the pleasure of knowing his wonderful wife, who worked at my grade school. Mr. Armett always had time to talk and later in life as I would run into him he always gave me updates on how his grandsons were doing. I was saddened to open the paper this morning and see his obituary. Our community lost a wonderful man and many of us are better off for knowing him.
