William F.( Freddy) Thomas, born October 3, 1939, of Thomas Mountain Road, South Charleston, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John Henry and June I. Thomas, brother James H. Thomas and sister Helen Blalock and granddaughter, Lavonna June Thomas.
He was a member of the Crooked Creek Church of God/Church of The Word of South Charleston and a retired construction worker and member of the UMWA.
He is survived by his; children; William H. (Sophia) Thomas of Parkersburg, Debbie (John) Erice of Lewiston, Idaho, James C. (Janeen) Thomas of Parkersburg, Paula Thomas of Cleveland Ohio, Anthony (Retha) Thomas of Parkerburgh, Troy L. (Janet) Thomas of Danville, Lisa White of Madison, Angie (Robert) Erwin, Lisa (Dallas) Acres, and William F. (Dina) Thomas III all of Fraziers Bottom.
He is also survived by his sister June I. (Patty) Thomas, and brothers; Gene R., and Edward R. (Valerie) Thomas, John L. Thomas all of So. Charleston, Danny Joe (Sharon) Thomas of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Larry D. (Anne) Thomas of Ravenswood.
Mr. Thomas is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, and aunts Mary (Ernest) Pauley of Dunbar, and Joanne Fletcher of Brounland.
He will be sadly missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.
Service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday November 23, at Curry Funeral Home 2097 Childress Road Alum Creek with Pastor Mark Thaxton officiating. Internment will be in the Thomas Family Cemetery on Thomas Mountain Road,off Ballard Road, So. Charleston. Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dad wasn’t there most my childhood but in the last fee yrs we’d started tlkn I loved those phone calls!!! Always knew how to cheer me up…. its comforting to no that he’s no longer sick and he’s finally at peace!!! Love n miss u dad!!!!

MY Grampa was and is a wonderful man. I am the son of debbie Erice and freddy was my Grampa. I never got to meet him but we spent alot of time on the phone. The phone calls I had with hims were the greatest thing I could ever ask for. I can still hear him telling me to take care of his grand kids and that he will always love me. I will miss those phone calls Grampa your grandson JIM YOKOMIZO

I have come to know Fred when I married into the family(Billy’s wife),and I have had nothing but the upper most respect for him, In all the years I have known him he was always so positive when he spoke,In which I was amazed cause you don’t hear that very often.and he knew how to make me laugh, I am so glad that I had the chance to come to know Fred,He will be missed alot. Y’all Are In My Prayers.
I have known this family for many years, they have had their ups and downs.

I was saddened to see that Freddy had passed away. I worked with Patty and Valerie at Exxon. Freddy would come in to get gas or just to shoot the bull. He had me laughing ,more than once. God blessed all the family and my prayers are with you.
