Opal was one of a kind. She was a good mother, sister, neighbor, aunt, and friend. She was loved by all who met her. She had a way of making people feel special. If you visited Opal it didn’t matter how long you stayed she wanted you to stay longer. She was a good listener and she told you her truthful opinion. She loved the Lord and longed for the day she would be reunited with her daughter Lottie. She was a member of Fuquay Church of God. She was the last of the front porch gang which included Olive Banks, Danner Green, Ray Pauley, and Charlie Sigmon. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all of us.
Services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forks of Coal Cemetery, Alum Creek.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lakhani and his staff for many years of care and the staff at Thomas Memorial during her illness.
Our deepest sympathy to the loved ones of Mrs Kitchen.

Miss Opal was most definately one of a kind. You never failed to have a good laugh when in her presence. I can remember her setting on the front porch when Jean’s babies were little yelling for Angel & Hope. Then the twins came along & I will never forget her saying that Jean really didn’t need two more. LOL She always had an opinion & good or bad you got it sometimes whether you asked for it or not. Condolences to the family. Jean & Diana, I applaud you for taking such good care of your parents & your Aunt Opal. May God give you peace that only he can give during this time of sorrow. What a blessing to know that Miss Opal is with her little girl, Lottie. She always said that one day they would spend forever together. Prayers & much love to all of the family.
