Oley PauleyOley Leo Pauley, 92, of South Charleston, formerly of Lincoln County, went home to be with the Lord Saturday December 19, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

He was a retired construction worker and member of Laborer’s Local #1353. Oley was a Army Veteran of WWII where he received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action in Germany, January 11, 1945. He loved hunting, gardening and the Cincinnati Reds for sure.

Oley was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth.

He is survived by daughter, Brenda (Ed) Roberts of Hurricane; sons, Darrell (Suewanee) Pauley of Sod and Freddie (Terri) Pauley of Statesville, NC; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston with military graveside rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 4768. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dad, this is not goodbye, but we’ll see you later.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Pauley’s passing. Prayers for you all that God will comfort you and yours. I didn’t know him well, but he seemed like a hard-working, sincere, and honest man.

So sorry for your loss. Oley was a gentleman who loved his family dearly, and they loved him. We’ve lost another member of The Greatest Generation.
