Paul Phillip Griffith, 78, of McCorkle went home to the Lord, Monday August 17, 2015 at home after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornes and Belva Griffith, wife Vercie, sisters Wanda Brogan and Thelma Gillenwater.
He was a retired construction worker an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a Member of McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his brothers; Frank Griffith of Sod and Butch Griffith of Alum Creek,
Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday August 19, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastors Frank Chapman and Ron Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery at McCorkle.
Family and friends will gather 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Save a place for me papaw we need ta have a lil talk ,thank you Soo much papaw ,I didn’t think you would even remember me no more than you got to see me ,but our talks and n those visits were great an tall an wider then the eyes could see or ears could hear, but papaw you herd me so very clear an I miss you Soo very much I wish we could of had more time together and had many more talks , I loved sitting with you by the campfire while you cooked beans an made corn bread an taters ,u know I loved ur taters over the cookfire,they were Soo good ,I wish I could of got the stories you told recorded like you wanted me to do an published but I never made it back up there after Beverly passed away to get that done ,I beat myself up over not getting it done for you ,but I am going to find out all I can about you an try to get ur legacy to live this n ,you were the best papaw a lil girl could ask for ,a great man ,a great father ,husband step dad an papaw anybody could ask for ,nobody could ask for a better person,I know your in heaven looking down upon us an know I will make you very happy with my writings of you ,it’s took me awhile but I’m starting to dig up everything I can about you an see if I can get anybody to talk to me so I can maybe write a lil book about my papaw from wva ,that God took home with him to prepare our roads for us to come until then I love n miss you Soo very much ,I will make you proud
I know beyond a doubt that you’re walking with him on the streets of gold
