Nile Karen BarkerNile Karen Barker, 75, went home to meet the Lord on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at  Edgewood Manor, Lucasville, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard & Kathleen Barker and brother, Ricky.

He attended Emmons Freewill Baptist Church, and loved his Lord dearly.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 5th Group Special Forces.  He was a member of the Alum Creek VFW.

He is survived by his brothers: Dale (Sue) Barker and Blane (Belinda) Barker and sisters: Brenda (Gene) Flowers and Martha (Steve) Hargis.

Services will be 2:00pm on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, WV, with Pastor Richard Harold officiating.  Burial with military rites conducted by the Alum Creek VFW Post 3768 will follow at the Barker cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

I’m so sorry to hear about,the passing of Karen,he was a very Dear Friend to me,and always so good to my whole family,I loved him like a brother,we lost touch,but I thought of him often,and also prayed for him,as I do for all my friends,I dont tell them enough,how I miss them’ until it is to late,I know,he is with GOD,watching over all of us,may GOD be with the family and I miss all of them Dearly,I wanted so much to come today,but I’m working and they wouldn’t let me off,because he was’nt my family member,but prayers and thoughts are with all of you,GOD BLESS ,Love You All,Connie and Denny & Brian!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things we will ever have to face. Something that has always brought me comfort are the words at Acts 24:15 which tells us that soon God will bring all our dear loved ones back to life through a resurrection. What a beautiful promise.
