David Preston Gillispie, 57, of Alum Creek, died at home on Saturday, March 29, 2014.
He was a member of the UMWA, and was an expert in mining reclamation. He served in the US Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold & Isabelle Gillispie. He is survived by his sons: David (Tara) Gillispie; and Jason”Sparky” (Cindy) Gillispie; daughter: Ann Marie Johnson; Brother: Buzzy Gillispie, and sisters: Deborah K. Marler, and Pamela Cook; former daughter-in-law: Amanda; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00pm on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made toward funeral expenses.
You all are in my thought. David was a goodman that was taken away to soon. Anytime is seen him always had a smile on his face no matter what. He will be greatly missed.

R.I.P. David….you left way to soon. My love, thoughts, and prayers go out to my wonderful nephews Davie and Jason. I will remember you as the one that helped April learn to swim. And payment with a dollar when she jumped in the pool. You will be missed.
