Frances SummerfieldFrances E. “Gansy” Summerfield, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Oak Ridge Center, Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Jerusa Vickers; husband, William Summerfield; brothers, Harold and Junior and sister, Brookie Breedlove.

She is survived by daughter, Trena (Dave) McKinney; step-son, Larry (Judy) Summerfield and step-daughter, Linda Casto; grandchildren, Tamika, Davy and Camdyn and a few others who referred to her as their grandmother.

Services will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek with Minister Charles McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions toward funeral services.

Trena, I am so sorry for your loss. I have some fun memories of Frances. I’m sure that you don’t remember but she colored my hair black when I was about three I think and mom about killed her. She will always be remembered fondly.
