Eloise Dunlap Adkins

Eloise Dunlap Adkins 86 of Yawkey went home to be with her Lord on Christmas Eve,  2009 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in So Charleston with her family by her side.  She was born October 29, 1923, the daughter of Andrew J. & Viola Moore Dunlap, sisters, Birdie, Cybil, Lella, Garnet, Vernilla and Anna.  Brothers, Clace and Noah, all preceding her in death.

She was a member of The Sumerco Church of God where she served as an active member and officer of the Christian Ladies Group.  She also served as Republican Committee woman for many years and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 6942.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred; Daughters: Kathy & Bill Vandale of Charleston and Connie & Butch Loftis of Griffithsville.

Son: Jeff of Yawkey.

Grandchildren: Chad and Gail Loftis of Griffithsville and Susan Vandale of Athens, GA.  One very special great grandson, Tristan Loftis, and many nieces and nephews.

Eloise was know for her wonderful personality and beautiful smile.  She was very dedicated to her community and helping those who were less fortunate.  Everyone knew her for her wonderful cooking, boundless energy and generosity.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Services will be 1:00 PM on Monday December 28, 2009 at the Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress  Road, Alum Creek with Pastors Richard McCallister and Butch Loftis officiating.  Burial will be in Forks of Coal Memorial Park at Alum Creek.  Friends will gather from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday December 27, 2009 at the funeral home.

Flowers are welcome, but if friends would prefer to make a donation, the family suggests that contributions be sent to Hospice of Charleston, The American Cancer Society or the Sumerco Church of God.
