Timothy Davin Simmons

September 2nd, 2012 | Posted by curryfuneralhome in Obituaries

Timothy Davin Simmons, Age 27 from Sandyville, WV, completed his journey to Jesus in the early Saturday morning, September 1, 2012.  Tim kept a joyous heart through the many trials of an extended illness.  His love for people was evident even when he was in great pain.

Tim is survived by his parents, John and Lisa Simmons of Sandyville, WV; his sister, Chelsea Simmons Morris and her husband, Brandon; his paternal grandparents, John and Ruth Simmons of Charleston.  He is also survived by his aunts and uncles: Henry Simmons, Charles (Jennifer) Simmons, James (Glenda) Simmons, Beth (Allen) Castle, Judy Gillian, Matthew (Jill) Gillian, Amy Jarrett, and Emily (Erick) Boles.

He was preceded in death by:  maternal grandparents, Jack and Betsy Gillian; uncle, Mike Gillian; and aunt, Julie Gillian.

Tim loved to sing and was a proud member of the Blue Persuasion show choir during his time at Ripley High School.  He was on the basketball and drama teams at the Chiang Mai International School during the four years he lived in Thailand. He was trained as a Certified Medical Assistant at NIT and enjoyed working.  He was an active member of the LifeSpring Jackson campus of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church where he served on the leadership team.

His faith remained strong through his decade long struggle with Juvenile Diabetes.  The disease along with many other medical challenges made daily living a constant struggle.  Tim never gave up.  Though his journey was often filled with pot holes and detours, he remained on course and finished the journey well.

Visitation to celebrate Tim’s life will be at the Santrock Education Center at the Parchment Valley Conference Center, 1715 Lower Parchment Valley Road, Ripley from 6 – 9 on Tuesday and one hour prior to services which begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday. Interment and graveside services will be at the Richmond Cemetery in Sandstone, WV at 3:00.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the West Virginia Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation JDRF 26 Broadway, 14th Floor New York, NY 10004 or  @www.jdrf.org

Condolences may be sent to: 7517 Parkersburg Road, Sandyville, WV 25275.

Lisa and John,

I am Brenna’s mom from Inspire. Your Tim joined hands with Jesus just 11 months after my Brenna. Today, while our hearts ache, our kids are at the feet of Jesus. Our hearts will always miss them and will always ache for their presence.

My heart breaks for the pain you are facing today. Our children are our most precious gifts from God. Lisa, you asked if there were a way we could meet on my trip. We’ll find a way. Our hearts are joined in a common cause.

In the blink of God’s eye, you will be there with Tim.

I wanted to express my condolences to your family and let you know that prayers are with you on your loss. To me I will always see him as that little 8 yr old boy in my wedding. I thank you for allowing him to share in that day. You were always such a loving and special family and i know that you continued to be. Love and prayers to you all.

John and Lisa: We’re keeping you and your family in our prayers. Tim was a sweet guy, and what a strong witness for the Lord. It has been a pleasure knowing him, even for a short time. God keep you under his wing.

Lisa I sent you an e-mail…but I wanted to send you both Gerald and my condolence to you and John on the passing of Tim. I did not know him personally..but I knew him through you and John….I saw a post on Tim Barnhouse’s news feed the other day about what to put on a tombstone on the passing of a loved one “Return to Sender”. I thought so appropriate for parents who have lost a child. I can’t imagine what you are feeling but know that I am lifting you both up in my prayers……my special friends……who have prayed for me, encouraged me and supported me…..now it is our turn….. your friends…..turn to do the same for you…..

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Tim. I know that he fought a courageous battle. The battle may not have been his but he won a resounding victory in the war. Our love, thoughts, and prayers are with you in this very difficult time. Due to church and work considerations, I will not be able to attend any of the services. But I will be much in prayer for your family. I know that the Lord will fill you with His love, grace, and mercy and it will be sufficient. God Loves YOU!!!

Dear John, Lisa and Family,

Our hearts are broken for the loss of your son, Tim. Trust that we will be in prayer for you and your family. We also rejoice that Tim has ended his suffering in this life and has entered into the joy of the presence of Jesus! We trust that the Lord Jesus Christ is your source of comfort and cheer at this time in your lives. He alone can get you through everything. Friends and family may console you, but Jesus will strengthen you in these hours. May His peace be upon each of you. Always remember the hope of the eternal resurrection in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
