
Edgel Dean Perkins, 89, passed away peacefully following a short illness on August 18, 2026, in Longs, South Carolina; formerly of Scott Depot, West Virginia.
He was born on July 11, 1937, to Julia and Delbert Perkins. Dean grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Saint Albans High School. He proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran.
Dean was a devoted husband to his late wife, Margaret Perkins, as well as a loving father and grandfather. He found joy in West Virginia athletics, talking to his cherished neighbors, and eating sweets—from cookies to candy. He will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and always being there for others.
He is survived by his only son, Alan Dean Perkins (Lisa); grandchildren, Allison Perkins (Wes), Alan Dean Perkins Jr. “AJ,” and RC Cole (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Aubree, Mia, and Cooper; and his sisters, Jean, Patty (Mike), and Betty, along with their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Delbert Perkins; his wife, Margaret Perkins; brother, Bill Perkins; and granddaughter, Autumn Cole.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 2-4pm at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, West Virginia. Family and friends are welcome to wear West Virginia football attire in his honor. Entombment at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

My brother-in-law Dean was a fine person, brother, husband to my sister Margaret, and father. He had a great life and will be missed by many!!!
