Dencil Leman Board, 72, of Alum Creek, WV passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Dencil retired from the WV Department of Highways with 44 years of service. He loved sitting on his porch and watching the Coal River.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine; sons, Dencil L., Jr., and Dencil Robert Board; parents, Dencil W. and Ruby Raines Board; sisters, JoAnn Stewart, Connie Harper, Stella Litton, and Cheryl Layton.

Dencil is survived by his sisters, Dixie Davis and Vanessa Flowers; partner, Judy Bolen and her family; best friend, Mo Sajed Barlas; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Service will be 3:00pm, Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Curry Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Hughes officiating. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

We had so many wonderful days together. I will always love this precious man. Brought so much laughter and happiness to me. So very kind to everyone. Many prayers and love to everyone that loved Dencil.

‘Many years being neighbors on this little road… I will miss him.
