Patricia Joyce Marshall of Charleston, WV was born September 23, 1936. She followed God home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at WVU Thomas Hospital.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Percy D. Daugherty and Stella Virginia Totten Daugherty; brother, Dee Daugherty; and 3 younger siblings.

Patricia, or Pat as she was known, was and will always be the loving mother and grandmother who went above and beyond for her surviving son, Steven Oscar Marshall; daughter, Jenny Marshall Williams; and grandson, Shaun Steven Marshall. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Daugherty and his children, Jan, Beth, Tony, and Dwayne; her sister, Julia Daugherty and her son, Ron in addition to many great nieces and nephews.

Pat was a teaching assistant for 30+ years for the Kanawha County Board of Education. She worked at several schools over the years, starting her career at Alum Creek Elementary. She took classes to work with and educate special needs pre-school and kindergarten children. She loved and cared for each child.

Pat was a beautiful soul with a high soprano voice and loved to sing in church. She shared God’s praises with that beautiful voice.

Pat will be remembered for her caring heart by past students, friends, and family. She will be remembered for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls that she always gave as holiday gifts. She will be remembered for each blanket and set of baby clothes she crocheted with love. She will be remembered for the love, care and thoughtfulness she shared.

Her family would like to give special thanks to the ICU/CCU team at WVU Thomas Hospital who cared for their mother as if she was a member of their family.

Pat did not want a viewing or service. She wanted a simple graveside service. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. All will be welcome.

Psalm 91:4 & 11
“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuse… For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”
