In Loving Memory of Brenda Kay Barker Flowers
Brenda Kay Barker Flowers, 81, of Alum Creek passed away peacefully at 12:01 AM on December 26, 2024, at Thomas Memorial Hospital surrounded by her closest family and friends.
Brenda was a beacon of kindness, love and dedication as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Gene Flowers with whom she shared a lifelong friendship and unbreakable bond; her daughters, Traci Flowers and Dale Samples, BJ Flowers Lafferty and son-in-law Russell Lafferty; and her grandchildren who knew her as “Nan”, Colton Kessel, Holly Ray and Kelly Ray Stooksberry & Ryan Stooksberry.
Brenda is further survived by her siblings, sister Martha Barker Hargis and brother-in-law Steve Hargis; brother Blane Barker and sister-in-law Belinda Barker. Brenda is further survived by her beloved in-laws, Helen Flowers Moore, Freddie & Brenda Flowers, Jim & Sharon Ryan and Sue Ann Kinder Barker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard & Kathleen Barker, her siblings Karen Barker, Dale Barker, Rick Barker, sister-in-law Elaine McCartney Barker, her beloved mother-in-law Beatrice Whittington Flowers and father-in-law Arnold Flowers.
Brenda brought immense joy to her family. Her sense of humor and contagious laughter gave them memories they will keep with them for life. She spread happiness around her wherever she went. She dearly loved her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who were spread from Canada to Florida. She welcomed those who were not blood relatives as part of her family.
During this time, we request your heartfelt prayers and comfort for Brenda’s loving family as well as extended family and friends.
Brenda’s memory and laughter will forever be cherished by her family whose lives remain touched by her warmth. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Brenda’s memory to the Alum Creek Lions Club or to the Alum Creek Alliance.
