Charles Clemeth Means

Charles Clemeth Means, 82, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 after a short illness.  He was the son of the late Lonnie and Millie Means and also was preceded in death by his son, Chuckie and brother T. J. Means.  He was retired from Libby Owens Ford Glass Plant and served as president of Charleston Local #1. Charles was a Navy veteran of WWII serving in the Philippines and was a member of the Benny Padilla VFW Post #4768. He served as Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias and would have been a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in November 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita; daughter, Jewell (Jim) Cook of Charleston; son, David (Cheryl) Means of Charleston; brother, Earl; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Ellis, Michelle Morgan, David (Sara), Daniel and Joseph Patrick Means; six great grandchildren, Katherine, Alec and William Ellis, Sophia Morgan, Warren and Addisyn Means.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Road, Alum Creek, with Pastor Frank Chapman officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the Benny Padilla VFW Post #4768 will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W, Charleston, WV 25312.
